This sadhu had a powerful space about him, quite dramatic and intense. Varanasi is in the background. My aim was to get a vintage look for this. I have studied and collected 1870-1920 photographs of India, and they have a special, ethereal quality about them. Please let me know if you think I succeeded.
The scepter is very special here Charles. The Silver Trident seems rare for an Eastern religion Charles. My studies of India usually referred to the "Sengol".
Is this denoting something more religious?
Thanks!

Yes, it is the weapon used by Shiva. It symbolizes that he is beyond the three elements that comprise material existence: rajas, tamas and sattwa. In this case, the sadhu is a worshiper of Shiva.

Charles, Indian theology(philosophy-religion) always fascinated me with allowing the "elements", Earth, Wind, Fire, Good, Bad, Ugly........knowledge..spirituality...to have a deity! And this transcends time as we know it!

Dan,
Hinduism is way too complicated and had transformed/misinterpreted over time. This guys explains core philosophy of Hinduism, in a funny way. I am neither religious nor trying to promote Hinduism, but if you are interested, check this out. This guy has done a good job in explaining it pretty bang on target.
Smart phones really don't make us any smarter. In fact the opposite. You are a very smart man not to have one and I'm not joking when I say this.
Sreedhar.
Thank you Sreedhar!
When I retired I did not want to have any device that would require me to respond by text or require me to bury my head in the screen.
Just me. My wireless carrier increased my monthly fee by $10 to "punish" me and my wife for not having a smartphone.
I do, however, like the fact that you have a very nice ability to take an image until you might get back with a camera. The images from them are very nice and unless the photographer told me it was from a smartphone, I probably would not know.
Thanks again!

Dan,
Insane that your carrier charges extra for you for not having a smart phone, but not surprised. I paid $50 to have a key fob instead of using a smart phone app, for my apartment complex. Agreed on everything you said. I guess I am one of the outliers of my generation.

I am waiting for my doctors to add a "Disclaimer" to my medical profile requiring me to respond by text or an "app" before I can receive any medical care.
I see it coming!
Have a great weekend brother!
Dan
You are bang on target on the toning. I remember watching this YouTube video a while ago. Somehow this mysteriously popped into my feed after my comments here. The algorithms are becoming better and better I guess. I thought of sharing it with you to show how close your photographs are to that time period.

I have always been a student of history. My degree is in History. I tried to teach it for a year but gave up because the students had no interest in learning the subject.
I studied the religions of the World and hopefully came to understand what religion is all about from other perspectives.
I took a course in college called "Religion, Magic and Witchcraft". It was a fantastic course! Each part of the course had a link to magic and witchcraft. Of course it was "bastardizing" the major religions somewhat but it was informative if you chose learn something one might not have known. The "connections" between the course's premise could be disputed but it was fun.
But in the end faith is what all religions should convey. But one can have faith without a religion.
Thanks!
Dan..Yes I WILL review your video.
