p.4 #2 · Thoughts or experience with the Leica M240?
Just to close the loop on this thread, on Fred's advice (and others) I recently picked up a used M10-R from another FM member on the B&S board. So far so good! Here's a few from the first use, with the fam ... love it so far.

I am in a similar boat. I was looking for a EDC to bring with me when I need to travel to the city to work. I thought about the Fuji x100 vi, but its price is close to $1900. I can find a M240 for around $2300. At the end, I picked up the M240 even though it is a much older camera, for the rangefinder experience.
I was surprised that in term of response time: waking up from sleep, shot-to-shot, and start up time. The M240 is actually better than my M11p. The shot-to-shot time for the first three shots there are no lag. Where it fell short is the image quality. At iso 3200, the image lost quite a bit of detail. It clips highlight much faster. When using my Nikon ZF, the image that is nearly two stops overexposed, and I can still recover almost all of the highlights.
I couldn't find a camera profile for my Lightroom Classic. I am not sure if the color I am getting is Leica or Lightroom.

M10 series have some of the most pleasant SOC colors. M10R is a classic.
It's ironic how the M10‑R looks just like the original M10, but in practice it's a whole different beast. Leica introduced the quieter shutter with the M10‑P, but the M10‑R received all the updates + a brand new sensor, and that's where the image quality truly takes a leap..That 40MP sensor is not just a jump from 24MP... it is a clear step up in SNR and DR and is almost in a class of its own.
I also think it's a classic for being the last Leica with a removable plate, but more importantly, it’s the only M camera to feature that 40MP color sensor, making it completely exclusive. Honestly, in many ways I even prefer it to the latest M11 with its Sony-derived sensor.
