I’ve been mostly shooting birds and wildlife the past few years, but decided to mix it up today and take the kids to the Civil War reenactment in Huntington Beach. Dusted off the Nikon 200 f/2, paired it with the Z9, and grabbed some shots. Hope you enjoy!
Living in Maryland I am surrounded by multitudes of anything Civil War. My BS is in History and the Civil War was my specialty. I used to attend reenactments in Gettysburg and Antietam all the time.
These are superb compositions in all respects photography. Love the tone here! Mathew Brady-ish!
Excellent work here!

Thank you so much Dan. Appreciate your kind comment.
I have planned another short trip to Conowingo later this year for the Bald Eagles but since I am taking the family, we also plan to do some sightseeing -mostly civil war related- in Richmond/Williamsburg area in VA…
Cheers

Well I was a "regular" at Conowingo long ago when I could be alone or maybe 1 or 2 other photographers...Gerov is still here on FM...the one's that go there now were after me when Conowingo became a "hit".
There is mucho Civil War history in the area in Va. you plan to visit. Granted it will be more pro one side than another, but do not neglect those sites. We have much to learn from our differences back then. Gettysburg is wonderful! I spend days there not moments.
Have fun!

Congrats on your "Featured Thread" win!
As a student of History and our Civil War, your images have that Matthew Brady-esque "vibe" to them.
He toned many of his Civil War photos as you have.
Again extremely well done Kambiz!

Nice choice to use Sepia tone to present these. Gives a nice civil war era look. I do wonder if they (civil war era photos) were like that when they were first taken or if they yellowed over time and now we equate that look with old photos.

Hi Patrick!
The images I posted are "copies" from the original Mathew Brady and crews final image.
Mathew Brady had a team of photographers and while many photos are associated to his taking, a member of his "crew" could have taken the image.
Most, if not ALL, processing was done by Brady and his "crew" on the battlefield.
I have visited the National Archives to see his original glass plate negatives and albumen prints. If you are ever in the DC area, NARA is well worth the visit. Many tones are the tones displayed so wonderfully here by Kambiz!
