Thank you Tammy!
MY zinnias and cosmos are very beautiful this summer! The cooler weather has brought out many "flights of fancy" subjects!

My patio has been especially vibrant this summer Eric. Maybe because we had the hottest summer in history and the twice daily watering is being paid back with huge flowers and very vibrant colors.
Thanks!
Dan
Morris
Many thanks Morris!
I am having issues with my macro work due to hand tremors. My "go to" lens is the Canon 180f3.5Macro. But is can get heavy trying to get close and MF.
I have the Canon 100 f2.8 IS Macro and I have switched the 180 to this. Let's see if I can get these a tad more sharp!
Thanks!

Thanks brother! The monarchs have been more plentiful this summer. My usual plentiful winged visitors are the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and the White Sulpher. These were a welcome change.
With the cooler temps the my "Buckeyes" are early and welcomed.

How big should the pots I buy be? I will get them for next Spring
Hi Bob!
I bought huge concrete "pots" many years ago. They weigh about 50-75 lbs depending on the size. I will post some images of them.
Point being...I started growing Giant Zinnias and Cosmos and Nasturtium surrounding the insides of the pots and highers flowers in the middle. So try to get large pots both in height and circumference. The Giant zinna will grow to 3-5 ft and the cosmos 4-6ft high. The stems are very hardy and while they will bend, they do not break or snap. The flowers then will bud and flower in very contorted ways leaving some fine positions for a camera.
I will post some images for you.
Thanks!
Dan
Oh..I don't know what kind of wind velocity you get at the shore but the heavier they are the better. No fear of the wind blowing them over. The plastic ones at Home Depot/Lowes are nice but they will tilt over in high winds. Just FYI

Dan, Sure do like your patio visitors ! They are beautiful ! Great images.
Greg
Thank You Greg! Despite a record setting heat/humidity summer until a week ago, I have been thrilled. That Heat kept me "locked in AC" but patio is a few steps away and in the shade in parts.
Thanks!

These are really nice Dan! I'm a fan of your photography, these included! It's always interesting to see your images from the other side of the Alleghenies. Steve

Great stuff dan ! Love the way they are presented. Straight forward , just really nice all-round.
John
Thanks John! The zinnias are just starting to grow in size in this frame. They are now about 2 1/2-3 ft high and in the large pots they are above 5ft.

Thank you for the kind words Steve. I am at the base of the Catoctin Mt range. All uphill from here!
Appreciate your kind remarks Steve!
