I've been using lossy compressed for about as long as it's existed. I've never had a problem with it and so it's what I use for all genres. Doing some research, there are instances where it can show anomalies, but I've never seen any in my pics (not that they may not be there at times, but they were small enough to not be noticeable to me). Also, most research I've seen is several years old, so any effects may be less now than then.
