Viltrox has teased that they'll be joining the L-Mount Alliance on September 1st. The teaser graphic with a large "L" makes their plans clear.
Viltrox already makes affordable lenses, and joining the Alliance should allow them to release native L-Mount options with proper support.
With Leica, Panasonic, Sigma, DJI, Samyang, Blackmagic, Sirui, and others already in the Alliance, this adds another option for photographers and filmmakers looking for more choices at a lower price point.
I hope they re-release the fantastic 27/1.2 Pro, despite the fact it's APS-C I'd love to use it on my SL3. (Still a very decent 26mp!) The new 56/1.2 looks excellent as well.

Probably unlikely I feel. Even Sigma no longer seems to release its APS-C lenses (like the recent 12mm) in L-mount.

You're probably right. Might be a reason to keep a Fuji body kicking around I suppose. Dare to dream though!
Personally I don't really get why Sigma is no longer releasing its APS-C lenses in L-mount.
They have the expertise and they offer mount changes as a service which (perhaps incorrectly) always let me to believe that a mount change was a relatively straightforward operation.
