If it's three grand and takes tc's I'd be in.
I'll be shocked if it doesn't take TCs.
I was hoping for a built-in 1.25 similar to the 150-400, but that appears not to be the case. The leaked images do not show a hump near the mount that the 150-400 has for its TC.

let's hope the closest focus distance will be good..must be close to what 40-150 f2.8 is if I'm going to be interested I think
however I don't think 3000Us will be enough it will probably be more expensive.. especially in Sweden where the price will be high.. probably not something I will buy but interesting lens

I’m surprised it’s not longer. That’s only a bit longer than the excellent 40-150mm and only one stop difference with the longer also excellent 300/4. And still much shorter than the 150-400mm. I don’t really see the use case for this, but I guess I’m overlooking something.

As I'm thinking more about this lens I'm inclined to agree. I had the Nikon 80-400 AF-S G back in my DSLR days and while it was a very good lens I rarely used it. So if the price comes in between $3500 and $4000 it makes no sense for me. Probably be great for a casual sports shooter I'd imagine.

I agree, I hope it has close focus magnification similar to the 40-150.
It looks like the 40-150 2.8 will be my next addition to this system. I love my Olly 100-400 for Dragonfly and Butterfly but often times they get in too close as I'm sitting there. Having the 40-150 on the other body will be great for those situations. $1500 rather than $3500 makes a lot more sense for someone in my financial category.

For me the use case for this lens is the same as the 40-150mm, but with some extra pulling power, so no fiddling with a TC or losing a stop when it’s on. Of course it will depend on its size, weight, and price as to whether I’d take the plunge, but its sync IS would also be a big plus.

After removing the 20% VAT and then converting to US$ and adding 15% import tax, that would translate to $3900US, which would be 20% more that Canon's latest 70-200 f2.8 Z ($3200US). OM may decided not to pass through the latest drop in the US$ and Import tax, so it could end up being somewhat less than $3900US. Certainly within range of what I was expecting for the price.
It is only 200g heavier than the 40-150 f2.8, so relatively light for the additional reach and added OIS. I believe this will sell well for OM.
