Had one of the coolest trips I have ever gone on in Iceland. My wife and I drove the Ring Road with our nephew. It's been a long but amazing 10 days..... It was a much needed break after I ended my racing season in Laguna Seca. We hiked every terrain, Ice climbed, kayaked, zip lined, Hiked with Huskies, went down into a 450ft volcano shaft, partook in 5 different hot springs and went pretty much anywhere we wanted. We kind of winged it the whole time and just ended up doing cool shit everyday. Here are some pics. Full set can be seen here https://www.joeltpowell.com/Iceland-August-2025
Thanks for looking, Joel

Thanks for sharing these beauties. My wife and I leave Sunday for a 3 week trip. I am very psyched, but these are just another pump up! What was your favorite place? I haven't heard about the volcano shaft - where and what is it?

Thank you Jim. You will have a great time...I cant wait to see what you get. Im assuming you will go to the highlands to hike? I was with my wife and nephew and wasn't able to do anything crazy like we would do. . My favorite place in the country was the southern part. Everything from Selfoss to Egilsstadir. Dont get me wrong, the whole country is beautiful, however the scenery there was amazing. Again, I wasn't able to go to some of the more remote areas. This was a really chill vacation. The Volcano is apparently one of two on earth where the inside is hollow. They lower you into the volcano tube on a scaffolding swing stage 400 plus feet down. It's called "Inside the Volcano. This is the link https://insidethevolcano.com/ I thought it was cool. It is a little south of Reykjavik. The hot springs are cool as well....My favorite was the Myvatn nature baths. Worst facilities yet best hot springs...The volcanic ash is the bottom and the water is blue. Anyways, have a fantastic time!!

Spectacular set! You mentioned it was a long trip and I am exhausted just reading about everything you did on your adventure. These are all great photos but I think #2 is my favorite. Great composition, color, shutter speed, etc. Really nice work Joel!

Joel, looks like you really had a fantastic trip! To go in August and be able to PP all the images and post on FM before end of August tells me that you have no PP fatigue issue I went there 3 years ago and still working on images Many of your images refreshed my memories and a reminder that I need to work on my Iceland images. I find it easier to take images but PP is tough. Hopefully, will get to it soon.
Back to your images, great set but Seljalandsfoss is really nicely done. Looks like you had some great weather......thanks for sharing.

Thank Parul. I don't do a lot of PP. I do them in Photoshop and I know the program like the back of my hand and I have a certain look that I like to achieve. I have all my presets that seem to work most of the time. I think I had about 2000 actuations this trip. Believe it or not I was mostly enjoying the trip. I only had a few places that we actually went to do photography. It's funny cause I forgot my tripod. I had to most of these hand held so I wasn't really set up to take some pro shots which eliminated a lot of time which I otherwise would have been shooting.
The weather was all over the place. Rainy, sunny, overcast, windy, you name it. Got lucky after the kayaking and got a sunset photo. Also got lucky with Seljalandsfoss with the sun just poking out. That shot is funny cause I was wiping the polarizer off after every burst. I ended up putting it in burst because I couldn't get enough shots off without the mist covering it. . It made the image look soft.
I hope you do get around to posting and processing your images. I have been to your website and it's impressive.

Nice shots. The r5II colors are sweet. Not sure how much a color difference there is between the I and II. Looks like an awesome trip.
They are probably close. I definitely think its a characteristic of the R5's
