p.1 #1 · Processing using Lightroom + DXO Raw Plugin
Hello all,
I recently began dipping my toe into the Fujifilm waters… first with the X100vi, and now with the X-E5 + 23mm f/2.8 lens.
I’m a lifelong Nikon user, but also have quite a bit of experience with modern Leica. I’ve always been a Raw shooter, and my editing software of choice has been Lightroom for as long as I can remember.
As I’ve been learning the quirks of the Fuji system, I’ve seen multiple photogs recommend DXO for processing Raw files… something to do with Adobe handling X-Trans sensor files poorly, whereas DXO does a great job.
I’d been considering purchasing DXO Raw 5 to be used as a plugin for Lightroom, but gather than the X-Trans 5 sensors are not yet supported, so I am wondering if it is something I should hold off on trying for now.
Does anyone shoot with one of the X-Trans 5 cameras and use the DXO plugin within LR?
Is there any advantage to giving it a try now? My understanding is that DXO still does a good job processing X-Trans 5 raw, but some of the newer features won’t work.
I’m hoping someone can share their experience and if there is any significant advantage to giving DXO a try.
Here’s a few snapshots taken from my first day out with the new X-E5… fantastic little camera and the lens, while noisy, seems great.

The X-E5 is not yet supported by DxO's PhotoLab. That might also be the case with DxO Raw. In any case you can try the software with your other cameras to see if you like the workflow.
My experience is that for some camera/lens combination, processing with DxO's PhotoLab improves the image substantially. I think PhotoLab and DxO Raw share the image processing code. PhotoLab is like a stand alone version instead of a plugin, but can also be used from LR.

Just got back into using Fuji with the X-T5 and hopefully soon to arrive X-E5 so I hope DXO’s Photolab 8 and PureRAW 5 will be updated soon for the X-E5. Just getting into trying to processing my first batch of X-T5 images so I will see how it goes. My search says you need the Elite version of Photolab 8.5 or newer and I checked. My latest update gave me version 8.7.2. I don’t believe PureRAW 5 supports the X-T5 based on web searches I’ve done.
One thing I noticed is that the images I just opened in Photolab 8 from my X-T5 did not automagically trigger Photolab 8 to download support for the X-T5 + XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 but they were available for download. So I did download them and the other modules for the lenses I do have. Need to check what I have to do to get Photolab to do that automatically. I’m a relative newbie on Photolab so I need to due some reading.
