In case it helps, this is my most recent service experience:
Dropped off two cameras, one under warranty and one with expired warranty for general check-up. This was on Aug 14 2025.
August 19: Email notification that they will replace the eyecup and leatherette for the camera under warranty at no cost + perform sensor check / cleaning as needed. A pleasant surprise since there was just normal sign of use and I didn't expect them to replace anything. I guess this is more of a goodwill and I have seen it earlier too. Will get it back next week.
Aug 20th: Email notification for the camera that is not under warranty. They discovered back-focus issue when OIS was active and will be fixed free of cost. Never heard of this issue (this is the Q3) before. They will also replace the leatherette at no charge.
Everything was super smooth and I am more than satisfied. It also helps that they are an hour away from me and I can drop off and pick up the gear in person.
I also had great experience with them. I had my M11 individualized. 1st inquiry email response was prompt, they sent me periodic updates of the work (received the camera, checked and sent invoice, work completion, etc).
They have wildly inaccurate lead time estimates but they perform more work under goodwill than I expect. An emotional rollercoaster every time I send in gear to Leica Customer Care in NJ
My recent experience was good as well. Sent in a lens to NJ for CLA. About 1 week to send out the invoice to approve, then about 6 weeks to finish. Communication throughout.

Would this be the place to repair a Leica APO Macro Elmarit R mount 100/2.8?
I have one that has sadly been derelict for far too many years, sigh...
Lost count of how many times I’ve sent items to NJ the past few years new or used purchases. Not out of frustration but out of an effort to standardize my gear because it’s a 50/50 chance something is off with focus calibration. Been happy with their work and have had goodwill experiences as well. Sadly with the tariffs I was recently slapped when importing an item to repair since it’s made in Germany. Despite saying it was for repair by manufacturer still had to pay some tariffs. Not sure what I’ll do now… (I live in Canada)
This tariff situation is getting ridiculous by the day. Since you live in Canada, was the tariff imposed by the US when you sent the lens in to Leica NJ?

I usually ship via FedEx. A short while later I got billed by FedEx a substantial percentage of the declared value. Sad but oh well. I guess it's time to... stop buying more Leica. Maybe cross my fingers and hope for good QC? I also know that the Leica stores here are hesitant to send back to NJ if an issue is raised for the same reason. Sad really... not to mention our Leica stock comes from the US and not from Germany. Anyway, I'm rambling. Leica NJ is great.
