p.1 #1 · Martins taken with the A1ii and A9iii and thoughts on A1ii performance.
A few images taken with the A1ii 300 f/2.8 in poor light unfortunately.
Pre-capture working as expected
The A1ii seemed to be much the same as the A9iii in terms of acquisition but not as good with focus accuracy in this situation. Both cameras had no trouble acquiring the martins/swallows when flying very close to the ground and tracking them as they approached.
A typical first frame position shown below with focus acquisition starting a little further away.
A9iii 300 f/2.8
A9iii seemed to cope with the poor conditions better than the A1ii and despite primarily using the A1ii (220GB of images vs 40GB from A9iii) the A9iii captured what I would consider better images with much less effort so for small fast subjects I would stick with the A9iii.
Very nice having the identical setup on these two cameras. All up I found the A1ii performed better than I expected it would and I can't see it having too much trouble with those falcons and jackals!
