What is the smallest AF lens for Sony in the 100mm to 135mm focal length range?

The Sigma i Series 90mm f2.8, a very nice lens, comes close and may be the best choice for compactness approaching this range. But is there anything that is longer and still small?

I think the Sigma 90mm is it. (unless you want to entertain an adapted a-mount lens; the Minolta 100mm ƒ2.0 is a very nice little lens)

All right, Mike. Do you own this lens? Did you count it when you filled out the survey and posted on how many lenses you own?

No, don't have that one any more. But I did just buy a 90mm Sigma (for the third time)

I have done similar cycles of selling and re-buying. It is beginning to make me slower to sell. I do think the Sigma 90 is a great lens.

I was recently thinking that the smallest 135mm+ lens may actually be the Tamron 28-200mm!

I really wish someone would make an updated version of the Minolta AF 135mm 2.8.

Pretty sure it's the Samyang AF 100 T2.3.

It’s not the lightest or smallest but it’s relatively compact, not too heavy and the image quality is stellar and what I’m using for that range in a prime, the Zeiss Batis 135.

There don't seem to be any decent reviews of this particular lens, though Dustin Abbott has a review of this series of lenses before the 100 was included.

Do you, or does anyone, have any experience with the lens?

I have one attached to my A1, love the min focus and size, some veiling flare against light, but I like it so far. Wide open:

The new Samyang 85mm f/1.8 P is a bit smaller than the 100mm cine. Those are supposed to be available this week.

The Samyang 135 f/1.8 AF is really close in size to the Batis 135 f/2.8. Slightly heavier, but not by much.

The Samyang 135 vs. Batis 135 weight difference is about 0.35 pounds. It's not much, and yet I feel that the Batis is much easier to carry. The Samyang feels bulky. Of course the 1.8 aperture can make the Samyang worth the extra size & weight.

Flare resistance is certainly the big downside for stills, but otherwise, it's a solid little performer. It reminds me a little of my MD 100/2.5, but the Samyang is better color corrected wide open. The weirdest thing about it is the front end, which is meant for their $400 MF adapter, and there's no traditional hood available. For the most part, I was able to hand shade around problems when I spent the day with it.

The Batis always felt "big" to me for being only an f/2.8 lens. The Samyang feels "small" compared to any other 135 f/1.8 including the GM.

I believe Frost has one on YouTube. I think it is a pretty decent lens with really bad Axial CA.

Some lenses of interest are mentioned in the following thread:
https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1876904/0#16663773

There really is a lack of sharp, light and small lenses in this focal length range.

It makes nicer images than the Minolta AF 100mm F2 or my Canon EF 100mm F2. The only slight complaint is that it doesn't have a normal hood or lens cap. The smaller Sigma 90mm F2.8 is more consistent across the frame. I also have the 100mm STF GM and the 90mm Macro G and several other primes in this range.

I don't know what's inside that front bulge of the Batis, but eliminating it would make it a better lens. You're certainly right about the IQ!

Samyang cine 100 T2.3 has been reviewed by Christopher Frost, Pav and others. Colour fringing is the weakness. It is sharp at the centre and not as fast as native lenses in af. Have not spotted the mtf.
