p.1 #1 · #1191 The Time Whisperer

"If you run fast enough, time is just but a whisper".

Had to do some experimenting with this one, to get the correct exposure for the shutter drag for the motion blur and finally the flash exposure to get the seconds hand tack sharp.

Thanks for visiting.

Thank you very much Dan.

I wanted to do something different and it was a very good learning experience. Getting the light to hit the seconds hand to catch the motion blur was very challenging. The angle had to be exact, otherwise you don't get the blur. Next, getting the flash exposure precise so that it would not overwrite the ambient exposure for the blur. I would have liked the seconds hand to be in between 7 & 8, but that would overlap the seconds hand with the minutes hand on the shorter end (of course I did want to have the hours and minutes hands exactly where they are now). Too many very variables to spoil the party.

All in all photographing a watch with blur in a single shot without a composite was very satisfying.

I agree with Dan. Very cool and unique. I sometimes find these challenges challenging to do something different so great job!

You have great patience! Kudos for that! Your presentation of this is most excellent!

I never had a watch until my military service in SE Asia. It was a SEIKO. A "poor man's" Rolex. I still have it today. Only 2 reminders of those 2 years came home with me. That and the rear pocket of a pair of Levis blue jeans. The pocket was all that survived 2 years of intense heat, humidity, mold, fungi and living in a bunker.
Hope to see much more of your creativity posted here!
Thanks!
Dan

Thank you so much Dan. I really surprised myself in the patience department, I must admit. I thought it would be quick, but it took almost 4 hours from start to the time I posted it. But well worth the effort and time I guess.

Wow! The experience in the bunkers would have been beyond my imagination. And SE weather is very consuming. And that is coming from somebody from India. I lived in Singapore during a project and can vouch for that.

Yes, SEIKO is poor man's Rolex. My grand father used to wear an automatic watch and I always wanted one. Finally bought this watch and this watch reminds me of his memories.

@Danpbphoto, I need some lessons in replying in the forum properly. I keep making mistakes and if I try to delete, it says "delete the post"
