great shots and yup, Hocking has some real beauties...walk the trail from Cedar Falls to Old Man's Cave after a good spring drenching and you'll see 10-15 of them....
I love waterfalls. Long exposure is an art. Nr one is great, it was so created that it no longer looks like photography. But as an visual art it is great for me. Congrats!
Thanks for your comment, Robert. I try to match the shutter speed to the feel I want of each particular fall and in this set I had a shutter speed as short as 1/8 of a second for one image. But that first photo with a 20 second exposure was dictated by the light, the fall is hidden away in deep woods and it was a heavy overcast evening, so it was very dark. The aperture was dictated by the depth of field I needed and I always try to shoot at base ISO to maximize my dynamic range and color. But in the end, I really enjoy how that first shot came out, the ethereal silkiness of the clean white water contrasts nicely against the rugged sandstone cliff.
Ross, I haven't followed the Landscape forum in a while, I regret I missed these earlier but then again you didn't need my vote to win the thread
I must say, some of the most beautiful work I have seen with waterfalls. You really emphasized the small amount of water in special ways, your nicely saturated greens have an eerie pleasant glow that works so well with the waterfalls. So many great ones here and the B&W's are simply outstanding!
