I really feel like this lens should have it's own thread and I don't think it does? I've recently started bringing this lens on runs in my small hydration pack and the weight makes a huge difference when running/hiking fast. I definitely wouldn't bring my 20-70 for instance. The ability to crop on the a7CR makes it quite versatile.
Great images! Certainly makes an argument for this lens.
I bought this lens a few months ago and took it on a recent trip to the mountains, bridging the gap between my 17-28 and 70-180. Normally I’d use a 40 or 50mm prime, but decided to try the little zoom for once. It got a decent amount of use. I don’t have any images to share at the moment, but I’ll post some soon.
Here's some from last year too, this was my most used lens on a Yosemite trip, my 16-35 sat around and my 70-200 got some decent use but this was mostly glued to my camera. I think when you're planning on shooting stopped down anyway it's a fantastic option when you want to be light. And the ability to range from 28-90 with a crop on the A7CR really gives a nice focal range.
I just sold this lens to a colleague for $50 to help them get their full frame photography journey started, after also convincing them to pick up an a7c as their camera instead of an m43.. I never shot with it as it came as a kit lens, and almost forgot about it. I am glad to see the potential of the lens for my colleague to take advantage of!
