Sony keeps ruining their smaller body's with flip screens and or fixed screens. So I pre-ordered the X-E5. This will be my first Fuji inter-changeable lens body. I ordered the Voigtlander 27mm f/2 Ultron as an EDC lens. I love 40mm and based on Fred's review it seems perfect for this body. I also picked up 2 Viltrox lenses (first time for those as well) 13/1.4 XF & the 27/1.2 XF. Received those already. First impressions are they are very nice feeling and surprisingly feel premium even though they are comparatively cheap. Based on reviews the are suppose to excellent optically. I actually like the weight to them. I also liked they are both 67mm which is nice. They probably will look big on the X-E5. But we will see. Looking for any other suggestions from existing Fuji users on lenses. I know Fuji AF is not to Sony's Level but I'm going into this with a different mind set than when I picked up the X100VI. There were many things I did like about the X100VI. Looking forward to giving this a try.
Not really at this point. Just figured people that are already in the system might have general recommendations for lenses they like. Trying to keep an open mind.
Those Viltrox (and the Voigtlander) lenses you got are really nice.
If you'd like to experiment with a longer reach, I highly recommend the Fuji 70-300mm. It also has a 67mm thread. It's not razor sharp (but still plenty sharp enough).. in return you get a very compact 100-400mm full frame equivalent thats easy to carry, great colors and rendering, solid IBIS for hand-held shots, and a 30 inch close focusing distance. The autofocus is a little fickle at times.
Check out Dustin Abbots review - he's got level headed take on the lens.
The upside is there are a pretty good selection of lenses for Fuji X. You however didn’t give us much in the way of parameters to make recommendations from…
Given what you’ve bought, 1) it appears you like primes; 2) AF or AE isn’t a necessity since the Voigtlander is all manual, and 3) size or weight don’t matter much since the 2 Viltrox’s are largish heavyish. Is that a good summary?
I will say all of the ones you listed are really good optically.
I am curious to hear how well you get along with manual focus and the XE5’s EVF.
My favorite Fuji X prime is the 18mm/1.4 with the 33/1.4 and 50/f2 as runner ups. The XF8 and 80mm are excellent, just a narrower use case. To my eyes, the 13mm Viltrox comes out of the camera a bit sterile and lifeless although super sharp. For zooms, the 16-55II is stellar but the 16-50 form factor is probably better suited to the XE-5, I've not used it.
I didn't read all the replies. I am VERY new to Fuji, GFX100sii and GF lenses. I have the 45-100GF and 100-200GF. I love both of them. But I would have rather had a GF100-300 then 100-200.
I am also using the Fringer EF(Canon) to GF adapter.
It or I am having "issues" with some Canon lenses. Will NOT blame the adapter yet.
BUT I am finding the 100sii sure handles well with GF lenses! I am at a quandry as to just keep the adapter and move on with my Canon lenses or get a few more GF that have no issues with the operator or the camera/lens. I have VERY few telephotos in either brand. I love primes.
Good luck! Not an eazy answer.

I also recommend getting Fujifilm lenses unless your budget simpler won’t allow it. (Better to get fewer but better lenses, if that is the case, and start saving.)
I have Fujifilm’s 14mm f/2.8 which is a really great lens. I also have Fujifilm’s 27mm f/2.8. Both obviously fully integrated electronically with Fujifilm bodies.
As far as recommending other lenses, I think you need to give us some hints of what sorts of lenses you are thinking of: big apertures, small and light, zooms, primes only, what kinds of focal lengths, specialty lenses.
Without knowing those things, making recommendations is sort of like having someone say, “I’m thinking of eating — what should I get?” ;-)
Until we get that context, I will say that if you have specific technical or feature needs in mind, just look at whatever Fujifilm lens fits them and you’ll be fine. There are no really bad Fujifilm lense, and most of them are excellent.

Hi Dan, if you already have a Fringer EF, you might try to the Canon 100-400USMII. Its a heavy beast but has great optics and the reach missing from the native 100-200. AF is pretty comparable to native Fuji with the Fringer. I have heard the same about hit and miss performance using the Fringer but it does work well with the 100-400.
Thanks for the replies. I'm still 2 weeks away from even having a body to mount my lens too. But I'll definitely look into your recommendations. Now a days I mostly shoot, landscape, street and family stuff. Occasionally wildlife when hiking. Sports days are over. How about a good resource (book or website) for learning the Fuji camera menu's in general.

Landscape. My most used lens by far is the 16-55/2.8 red badge, v1. My second most used lens is the 8-16/2.8.
Street. My 2 goto’s are the Viltrox air 25/1.7 and 56/1.7. On these I add a 1/4 black net or cinebloom filter to slightly soften the look and render a bit of glow in typical night lighting.

Thank you Steven!
My local neighbor has that lens. Maybe I can ask to use it and give her a try! One of my most main issues is weight and what the weight causes in the form of hand tremors. The longer it takes me to focus the shot the more the tremors increase. IT is an inherited "Parkinsons" effect.
Thanks again Steve!

1. I primarily use the Fujifilm system for street and travel photography. My most used lens (over 90% of the time) is the Fujifilm 27mm f/2.8 pancake on the XT5. For travel I often add the 14mm f/2.8 and the 50mm f/2. I’ve been known to bring other lenses on occasions — 23mm f/1.4 and/or 35mm f/1.4.
2. I bring the Fujifilm system as an adjunct to my Canon FF system on some landscape and wildlife shoots. For this my main lens is probably the 16-55mm f/2.8. I also like the 50-140mm f/2.8, a great lens that complements the 16-55. (For me, 16mm is almost always wide enough, but that’s is a matter of personal preference and YMMV.)
The 50/2 is really great. Some call it clinical but I find it has the color pop a lot of ultra-modern lenses sometimes lack.
The original 23/1.4 is awesome for the peanuts people are asking for use copies. It will probably feel large on the XE5. The 16/1.4 will feel comically large but the close focusing capability is unreal.
I adapted a CV 35/2.5 on XE bodies for a long time and loved the filmic rendering and tactile feel. I also used the CV 40/1.4 and 35/1.4 II too. Just a lot of fun.
For me Fuji is all about reduced size & weight plus an old-school experience with manual aperture rings on the lenses. I did the bit DSLR thing with pro lenses (i.e. big, heavy, expensive) and am no longer interested.
I choose small and light over big & heavy even if that means less observed sharpness with a 40 MP sensor viewed at 100%. Overall rendering matters more to me than microscopic sharpness and I'm favoring simpler lens formulas with fewer elements over highly corrected lenses with many elements. Voigtlander over Fuji, and Fuji over Sigma. I'm also a sun star addict :-)
I got the X-E4 used and added the following lenses: Voigtlander 18/2.8, the Fuji 35/2 and the Viltrox 56/1.7. That gives me 28mm, 50mm and 85mm. The Voigtlander is manual focus and has a DoF scale, so I can zone focus. The others are AF, which I need at those longer lengths.
I will use those same lenses on the X-E5.
Fuji is a system I only plan to use for street and travel, so this setup is perfect for me. I have other systems for other genres.
Just got back into Fuji after leaving it awhile back. I’ve decided that it will be my APS-C based camera system. For full frame I shoot both Sony and Canon mirrorless. While Fuji has many good lenses it’s hard to find only three small ones to keep either the X-T5 or new X-E3 a light as my my bench mark which is the Sony A7CII/A7CR and the small Sony f/2.5 primes like their 40/2.5 G.
The three or four that I’ve chosen are the XF 16/2.8 R WR, XF 35/2 R WR, the XF 50/2 R WR, and possibly the new XF 23/2.8 R WR. Obviously I don’t have the 23mm yet. I did also for now wanted one zoom for the times I don’t want to swap lenses so I have a copy of the XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 R LM WR. Those are the ones I’ve found that make the Fuji lighter than the compact Sony kit.
