Update: This is just one example of wildlife trying to survive in an urban environment. These ponds have about ten very large weeping willow trees near the shores. The lower tree trunks have wire mesh or gritty paint around them so the beavers will not take down the trees. The residents have these trees pruned every year, with massive amounts of branches disposed of in landfills. If this young beaver is lucky it can pull down some of the few remaining branches that hang down low enough above the water.
For several years, because the beavers did take down some of these and other trees, they were trapped and relocated. It was not until myself and other wildlife advocates convinced our stratas to protect the tree trunks instead of trapping the beavers.
So continues the battle between mankind and wildlife, with wildlife losing at an ever-increasing rate as human population increases and more wildlife environment gets destroyed.
