I'd like to make a few 16"x24" prints on my Epson P900, and am wondering if that'll work top loading 17"x25" sheets -- nothing super-thick, probably premium luster. I'd prefer not having to move the printer to front feed it. If you've had any experience with that printer at that sheet size, I'd be grateful for feedback.

I have the P900 and have printed 16x24 on 17x25 RR paper using the top feeder with no problem.

How did you get your P900 to recognize 16x24 on 17x25 paper? I'm printing out of Lightroom Classic (from a Mac), and while LrC's print dialog shows the correct paper size, correct image size, and correct margin size (half-inch all around), the P900 keeps spitting out a 16x22 image bled to the leading edge.

I don't use Lightroom to make prints. I use Epson Print Layout. When I set everything up I first use the little monitor on the printer to set the paper size and type. Then move over to Epson Print Layout and set those parameters.

Thanks much. I'll give that a try.

I usually use Photoshop yet I know Lightroom has quite a few areas of settings that I think could have been made a bit more user friendly. Epson Print Layout was a good option already mentioned.
Here is what I recall the steps to be to maximize the size to the paper size you choose:

1. In Lightroom Classic
Switch to the Print module.

Page Setup (bottom left):

Printer: Epson SC-P900

Paper Size: Choose the exact size without Borderless (e.g., US Letter or A3).

Orientation: Portrait or Landscape, depending on the image.

Click OK.

2. In Lightroom — Layout & Print Job
Layout Style: Single Image / Contact Sheet.

Image Settings panel:

Check Zoom to Fill (if you want the image cropped to fill width/height) or leave unchecked to keep the full image and allow white borders if aspect ratio differs.

Check Rotate to Fit so the image uses maximum printable space.

Layout panel:

Margins: Set to Lightroom’s default minimums (these match the printer’s non-printable area for the paper size — they will be > 0 for standard prints).

Cell Size: Increase until it reaches the max allowed by margins.

Print Job panel:

Print Resolution: 360 ppi.

Print Sharpening: Standard or High.

Color Management → Profile: ICC profile for your paper.

Rendering Intent: Perceptual or Relative.

3. Epson Driver — Print Settings
Click Print Settings (left of Page Setup).

In Epson driver:

Media Type: Match the paper type/profile (e.g., Epson Premium Luster).

Print Mode: AccuPhoto HD2.

Color Settings: Off (No Color Adjustment) — lets Lightroom manage color.

Quality: Max Quality if desired.

Paper Handling: Leave Borderless off.

Advanced Media Control: Adjust Platen Gap if using thick fine art papers.

Click Save.

4. Final Print
Click Print in Lightroom.

In the macOS print dialog:

Verify the paper size matches your Page Setup choice.

Verify Media Type and Quality match your earlier settings.

Do not change Color Management — keep it Off.

Click Print.

Might be worth comparing this list to the steps you were taking.
Hope this helps

This worked as described. I created a user defined paper size on the printer's LCD, and paired it with the paper type. Oddly (maybe), it wasn't working until I shut down the printer overnight. Now it's doing what I want. On the one 16"x24" print I've made so far, I like the flesh tones better than on the 17"x22" print of the same image I had made using Lightroom Classic. So I may do more printing with Epson Print Layout going forward.

Thanks again for your help. Greatly appreciated.

John, thank you for taking time to offer such a detailed response. Paper size is the problem. 17 x 25 is not available in the default list. I added it to the list as a custom size, but wasn't able to get the printer to reproduce an image at that size even though it showed 17" x 25" on the rulers in LrC's Print dialog. I'll take a closer look at the entirety of your suggestion to see if maybe I missed a key setting. Maybe now that I've added a 17 x 25 option directly to the P900, it'll work with LrC, too. Haven't got that far yet. I'm definitely with you on thinking the whole process could be friendlier -- for this user anyway.

Regards,

-- Jack
