AFAIK it is only possible to update using OWC's own reader or send it in, but check your serial number with OWC because all my 480GB cards were deemed OK by OWC and not in need of firmware updates

Are people still having issues with the firmware?
Is it still only possible to update with a proprietary card reader or send it in to service?
Thx!
re: OWC 960GB Atlas Pro CFexpress 4.0 Type A Memory Card $299
A few versions ago there was an issue I think was isolated when running the OWC Card Reader app on macOS 15.x That has since been fixed. I just checked and the app is currently running normally on macOS 15.5 but there is an app update to download as well.

I have that 960GB OWC card. It has been working fine for 8 months now. I am not aware of any issues with that card. What are the issues?
There are no current problems with the card if on the latest card firmware ELFM95.2 . Some months ago OWC recommended the cards be updated to the latest firmware, to avoid a potential error with the previous card firmware.

I sent a message to them and they responded really fast. After supplying them with the serial number, mine needs to be updated. To make a long story short it comes down to them offering a 50% discount on their reader as one option. But I already own 2 readers and, I don't need a 3rd one, even at a discount. Or, as another option, for me to send the card in for an update. I am now waiting for their Technical Department to facilitate the shipment back to them. I offered another option to them by loaning me a reader with which I could use to do the update and I will then return the reader back to them. They don't seem to like that idea though. That's where we stand now.

Seems to me they need to fix their software so firmware can be upgraded with any reader.
Rightly or wrongly, currently it’s the same aka all offer proprietary apps at least for the companies that bother to offer additional CFe card services via software/app to support their own CFexpress cards.
An update on the status - OWC did send a brand new card reader. I was pleased that they were able to do that but to my disappointment, the card reader is only for the CFE Type B. I contacted them again and I was told that only that was available at no cost. To make it work I had to purchase a Type B to Type A adapter for about $15. Although I could get one for less somewhere else but I didn't want to risk any issues with a different brand adapter. So, I purchased their adapter. I did get it recently but I got distracted and waited until today to do the FW upgrade. It went smoothly and the actual process only took seconds...

They sent you a type of B reader at no cost?
The only CF Express readers they have are for Type B cards, Their USB 4 reader comes with a Type A to B adapter. A little silly if you ask me but thats how it is for OWC atm.

Yes, they did. But they stopped short of sending me the kit that includes the Type B to Type A adapter with that. Instead, they sent me a card reader for Type B and SD card and that one doesn't come with any adapter.
There are 3 options to upgrade the FW right now. You send the card in to them, or you buy their card reader that includes the adapter I mentioned before for 50% off or you do what I did. I have 2 card readers already. Originally, I pushed to just borrow their card reader to do the upgrade and I would return the reader to them upon completion of the upgrade. I didn't realize that they only have the Type B reader. Hence I had to buy their adapter. At the end, I am quite pleased how it was handled though. FYI, you use their app Innergize to do the update.
