The X2D and 90 3.2 make a humming noise that will come and go, mostly when I first turn on the camera. I haven't noticed this with my 55v lens. Is this normal?
I do hear a constant very low humming noise when the camera is on with any lens, have to put your ear next to the camera to hear it, similar to what I used to hear from my GFX camera and assume this is normal. However, the 90mm 3.2 lens will at times make louder humming/buzzing sound like it is trying to do something, just when sitting, and even with stabilization turned off. At other times it is perfectly quiet other than the very very low humming coming from the camera...anyway, hoping someone could weigh in on whether this normal? I can return the 90...
I've heard lenses on other brands that have VERY chattery aperture blades, so if you're in S for instance, the aperture will be constantly microadjusting as you move the camera around.

I mostly shooting in A priority....I'll set everything to manual to see if that makes a difference, again, just hearing on the 90 3.2, not on the 55v.
Thanks, helpful, but shouldn't that go away when IBIS is turned off? It makes me appreciate the SL3 more as it is dead silent unlike the GFX and X2D...

It’s the IBIS unit. It’s more active with longer focal lengths.

No. The IBIS un it must run to keep the sensor held in the centre when IBIS is turned off. So there’s always a hum. Really it’s always on. Just active or inactive.
The IBIS unit in the SL3 is vastly smaller (and in the case of the X2D, less effective) then the larger sensor end cameras. Of course the SL3 is quieter. It’s not completely silent though. I can hear it under careful listening.
