I have a lightly used Sony A7 that I am considering for the Kolari UT conversion. I have a few old film lens: Contax G28, G45, G90, Olympus H.Zuiko 42/1.2, Vivitar Series 1 90/2.5, and a couple old Rokkors. I have no intention of using modern lens on this camera.
The advice I am seeking is whether I should maybe consider buying another (older) Sony body for the conversion or stick with the A7?
If I am going through the effort of getting the Kolari UT conversion perhaps I should consider getting an A7R2 or an A73 or something else.
I'm very pleased with my rII UT. I was never happy with the control layout of the original 7's, so was very happy when they released the updated body styles with IBIS. The BSI sensor is a big improvement so far as crosstalk (color cast in the corners with wides). It doesn't fix them all completely, but it's much better. I would go either rII or 7III for those reasons.

here is the what the color caste/vignetting on the g28 looks like on the A7 with UT conversion:
and here it is with the A7rii with backside illuminated sensor
in general vignetting will be better on any other rangefinder wides you might use with a backside illuminated sensor.
having said that, i find the smaller camera size much better with the original A7 for pairing with the contax g lenses and i find the viewfinder easier to manual focus with on the original A7 (not using magnification). the a7iii is much better for manual focusing too, not sure what the deal was with the A7rii.
