I finally had a chance to have a few days devoted entirely to photography. I chose to come to the west coast of Vancouver Island around Ucluelet. I was hoping for some moody, foggy scenes and the weather did not disappoint. These were all taken yesterday between 6 and 7 am. All shot with the GFX100S II and either the 32-64mm or the 45-100mm. Minimal cropping was used. I've got two more days to take in this amazing environment. It's a magical place.
I'll post B&W conversions of these shots on the B&W forum. Foggy, misty images always translate nicely to B&W.
All nice images but the 3rd one stands out from a compositional perspective. The first image would have been great, but that intruding boat in the bottom right kills it for me.
Fog really adds mystery to images and you’ve done well capturing the mystery.

I see your point. In the next day or so I’ll try a crop and repost. Thanks for the suggestion.

I took your suggestion and agree - the lower right boats distract from the composition. Sometimes it's staring you in the face and you miss it, but once I tried your suggestion it was quite apparent that removing that part really enhances the composition. Thanks!
P.S. - I needed to clone out the little bit of distraction left after cropping out the lower right boats.

Yes, sometimes less is more. Much stronger composition.
I try to get to the west coast of the island once a year and love it when the fog or rain comes in. The way of life in that piece of paradise is something special.
