Well how could you not? What a scene. I used to hop in the S2000 and drive everywhere to go snap pics. I'd be in the snow top down with Continental Extreme's and people were looking at me crazy lol never got stuck, never was cold. Just enjoyed the 100 mile ceiling and taking pics. Boy but was this a time ago.. like 14-years
But back to the subject at hand, I jumped on the Z5II when it came up on refurb, added a 3-Year Warranty. I had the Zf, and I told myself I'd never sell my Zf because it was a Silver Edition Sepia Brown, but I noticed I was shooting more video than I imagined. Couple that with a smaller body, slightly better video specs, and it's "lighter" I made the jump and and happy with the Z5II.

Nice! S2000's were always out of my price range for a toy, but I've had a few MX5s (Miata to you) including a 250whp turbo Mk1 which was a little rocket.
Have to agree top down in the snow is great fun! I'm sure I'll miss the convertible aspect at times with the BRZ, but it has other advantages over the old MX5.

I hear you. Many of the cars I wanted were out of my price range. But as we get (ahem) older our financial situations improve.
Edit: I realized after I posted this that it is very likely a film pic, not a Z5ii pic. But was "scanned" from the negative with my Z5ii and a Tamron 90mm Macro.
I posted these yesterday in the MFNG thread. I'm putting them here too because they illustrate what the Z5ii can do. "Only" 24Mpixels. Yeah, right. Not bad IBIS either.
Taken two days ago with 105mm f/2.5 P-C, manual focus, hand-held. Resized full image, and cropped full resolution. Oceanography

Taken yesterday with 300mm f/4.5 AIS and TC-14B = 420mm. Greater Yellowlegs sandpiper, probably migrating through, possibly blown off schedule by the current coastal storm. GreaterYellowlegs by James Muller, on Flickr
I posted these pics in MFNG. They are appropriate for here too.
We climbed Cadillac Mt today, no big deal, not a hard hike though it's the highest peak on Mt. Desert. At one point I saw an interesting bird way up in the sky, way too far to identify. I was carrying the Z5ii with the 200mm f/4 Q lens. I snapped a few pics hoping that they might show more when blown up to full resolution instead of downsized to fit on a computer screen. Sure enough, it was a bald eagle. That 200mm is quite the thing. So is the Z5ii. (I have no idea what size Flickr and MF are going to show you. You just have to take my word for it!) Also on the walk down we encountered a cute little beast about 7 feet up a tree, baby porcupine wondering what all the fuss was about. Porcupine

Unfortunately I had one little mishap, slipped on a wet rock, went down fast. The camera fared a bit better than I did. The focus ring picked up a few minor scars, more testimony to its ~55 years of service. Somehow the rubber cup around the viewfinder was torn at the bottom on both sides. Everything else appears normal and functional. I took a few scrapes, no big deal, just bummed. Another day, another injury. My scrapes will heal by themselves. Not so the camera. I'll have to find a fix, probably a replacement from Nikon.
I'd like to grab one at some point. Problem is, there are too many functional similarities (in my mind, anyway) between it and the Z50ii for me to spend the cash.
Looking pretty closely at a used Z7ii, but the AF system for BIF is not quite as good compared to the Z5ii and Z50ii.
Of course a Z7iii with subject tracking, deep buffer and Expeed 7...........

FWIW, the Z5ii has the Expeed7 processor. It is full-frame, has good IBIS, and is reputed to have superb AF. But then, you knew that. The sensor is 24 mpxls (6048 x 4032), which you also knew. Plenty good enough for pics displayed on a computer or phone screen. At 300 DPI you could make prints with the long side 20 inches. As I said, FWIW. I'm using F-mount MF lenses exclusively and am having fun. No pro work.
Not sure if anyone here has been using a cheap M5StickC with Furble flashed to it to remotely fire off their shutter on other cameras using Bluetooth. I've been using one for years with my Fuji gear. Today I tried using it with my Z5ii and if you just connect to it like it is a ML-L7 remote, it works flawlessly to fire the shutter. Not sure if it can focus as well, never used the remote for that.
Only cost is the M5Stick. Mine was $10, but I see new versions (M5Stick3) are about $20 now. It's nice that you can use it with different camera brands though.
