p.1 #1 · issue with cybercommander and paul c buff celestial light notice (email chain post)
Hello,
I’d like to bring to your attention that there is an issue when using the celestial light with the latest firmware update with the FW56 cyber commander. When I set the recycle indicator to audio, lights, or both the unit don’t seem to be able to fire those recycle indicators (the audio doesn’t chirp and the modeling light stays on the lowest power.
Thank you,
Leon
Hey Leon,
Thanks for the heads up! I was able to replicate the issue, and I have found some things which may be helpful while we look into this.
First, the issue is present on version 50 and 56 (as well as other, unreleased test versions). It also seems to happen only at the higher power levels (-3.0 and above). Lower power levels were unaffected in my experience. Also, despite the recycle indicators not activating, the light did recycle in the appropriate time to the appropriate power. And lastly, you can initiate the recycle indication by pressing the REFRESH command, which is UP with the right joystick.
The issue only appears to happen via the fire command with the joysticks, while on an individual channel. Therefore, this can affect the set-up workflow a bit, though it should not affect shooting workflow.
Recycle indication would not happen with power level change, as it does with Einstein, due to a fundamental difference in the way the two lights function with power change.
I have passed the observations to our engineering staff, who are looking into it. I am unsure if a correction will require a Celestial or Cyber Commander firmware update.
I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions, please let me know!
