I need to think about this a bit, especially the definition of “where I live.” I am located in the SF Bay Area… but later today I’ll be in the Eastern Sierra and a week or so ago I was in Big Sur. I regularly visit the redwoods, photograph migratory birds in the Central Valley, and have been photographing Death Valley for more than two decades.
Doug - Yes, I'm aware that the thread is a collective effort but it started from your idea. I for one am fine with voting to recognize the idea. As well as our collective response to it. Steve
Thanks, Steve.
I am very appreciative of the wonderful posts of the other participants (thanks you guys - great stuff!). Now that it has got off the ground, I have my fingers crossed that a few more of our forum's talent will share their "backyard" with us all, too.
Doug
For the past nine years, we've lived on Gabriola Island in the southern Gulf Islands off the west coast of British Columbia. There's a lot of great landscape and wildlife subjects in the region, but for this collection I whittled it down to images I've taken within a 15-20 minute walk from our house.
Great idea for a thread. We are minutes from the memorials. two national parks, C and O canal etc. but sometimes the scenery is just outside the house. I live near Washington DC. Here are some pictures from my yard and nearby over the years.

The valley is a wine grape vineyard area.

My folks lived for a while in Santa Maria - so I know Solvang, Aebleskivers and the movie "Sideways". I never got to see a launch from Vandenberg, though - very jealous! Guadalupe beach is a gem
