Was out finding something to enter into this weeks assignment, "Strangers". I stumbled onto 2..It was VERY hard choosing.
The couple were celebrating their 42nd anniversary in the park.
Jeff I passed on the way to my van to leave. I asked for a photo..he asked..have you accepted God? I said "I served 2 years in combat in Vietnam..God and I are close friends"!

They all look friendly and willing... and the 2nd one is my favorite as he looks like quite the character...
Both were very friendly and accomodating "Mich"! The couple wanted to make sure they wouldn't be plastered all over the local newspaper as a "cartoon". I assured them it was for an entry into an assignment. They accommodated!
Jeff is another story....I had just passed a beautiful black cat sleeping on an outdoor wire chair..grabbed a shot...Jeff came out his stores door. He saw my eyes shift from eye contact to reading his t-shirt..he asked me "If I have accepted Jesus"....I gave him the stated reply in a "matter-of-fact way"..more of a mental/verbal reflection that contained images.....he sensed that and smiled as he continued sweeping the stores steps. We exchanged pleasantries and I walked on.
It sort of made my day "Mich".
Thanks!

What a great capture, Dan !!
Thank you Andy! Both were very unexpected. I was on my way to my van to drive home from shooting a "cultural walk" and the couple I met first were relaxing near the lake in front of them. His hat was what caught me. We chatted and as I said above, they allowed me to take their photo.
Now Jeff was an "encounter". My van was parked to the frames left. He popped out as he was sweeping his store and we made eye contact, then my eyes drifted to his t-shirt..he then asked me if I have "received God". I responded and he smiled for me! The neighborhood is a very "blue collar" neighborhood..row houses....very "gritty"..hence the noise.
Thanks again Andy!

The welcoming smile expressed in #2 really pulls me into the image.
Nicely captured, Dan.
Thank you Paul! The "mister" was a tad apprhensive at allowing me a photo but his wife patted his knee, we exchanged pleasantries and I moved on.

Both great captures, but in #2, I feel the interaction led to an even better portrait!
Thanks brother!
I concur! The neighborhood is very "blue collar". Tightly lined olde rowhouses with Jeff's store sandwiched in between a group.
As he exited the store our eyes met but mine ventured to his t-shirts logo......he noticed that and hence his proclamation and my response. Which I found almost instantaniously suprising for some 52 years later.
Thanks Ilya!

Thanks Parul! I very much like how the processing came out in #1. I made #2 gritty because of the neighborhood Jeff lived and had his store in. Very blue collar...long blocks of row homes built many years ago..People sitting on their "stoops" talking.....good vibes!!
Thanks brother!
