Some say there are an estimated 45 billion cameras on earth today, giving humankind access to perspectives far beyond our own reach. But the very tool that could help us understand the world is increasingly used to distort it. With A.I., this distortion has reached a new level. When any photo or video can be manufactured, what happens to the camera’s credibility? Can we still trust what we see?

I mostly care about the cameras I use and trust my own images and those of a few people I know are accurate. The rest is just noise. That is nothing new; since the beginning of photography people were messing with the integrity of images.
There are systems and procedures to ensure data integrity if necessary. They cost money and require resources, so are not used for most purposes.

Yeah just look at that NY politician that Ps'd his hips but left the extremely distorted park bench "as is".
I mimick "EB's" comment. I rely and trust photographers to inform me when they use a "method" to radically change the original image or create a "faux" image and present it as their own creation. Especially on FM. But you can fool me once, fool me twice then the photographer becomes the "bullseye" at the firing range target!
It is called "artificial" for a reason.
