I use my m42 mount lenses on my Z7ii all the time, especially for video. They have a great look to them. I bought the K&f m42-z adapter and it works really well. I plan on getting K and FD mount z adapters in the near future.

I just got mine this weekend. I look forward to using it. It def a bit smaller then my 50 1.2 AiS .... and lighter! It seems to be very sharp at 1.4! I def look forward to using it with the ZF.

Get a small Allen wrench and adjust your adapter so that when the lens is mounted, it’s right side up. All future lenses mounted to the adapter will also be right side up.

M42 Pentax one of the most noted on thorium oxide glass radioactivity issue. According to one study it may only be a small percentage that are really active, but the yellowed seemed more active than one guy's sample of uranium from his school, on here years ago. So pretty active
I have 50/2 Mamiya Sekor, preset soligor 180/3.5, Volna 50 macro, etc though perhaps somewhat oddly not sure if I have any takumars. The 50 mamiya sensor is mid 60's or so, excellent, no focus shift , great color, soligor 180 tiny and seemed surprisingly good, volna macro noted bokeh. I got a geiger counter to test lenses one time, but I didn't find anything.

Thank you. I was trying to figure why they gave me that little allen wrench. I had to put some light on it to see where it was at.

Great lenses, pulled out the 55 and 35 today. I had a longer reply posted but this forum software sucks recently.
Pictures say more than a thousand words! Thanks for sharing - excellent snaps!
I’ve got the takumar 55/2, 105/2.8, 135/3.5, 200/4 and am looking at the 50/4 macro
It’s amazing how Asahi Optical Co produced such small and light lenses with minimal lens elements that still render so well!
(The less glass the better) - consider your eyes : there’s minimal obstruction to light entering your iris 👁️
The SMC versions came later with better coatings
The first 2 years of production the 50/1.4 had 8 elements in a very elaborate construction with curved and cemented final elements - non radioactive glass. They wanted to take over Zeiss quality with this design, it was just too costly to produce - so after the first two years all other versions of this lens use radioactive glass (more efficient light transmission) and a cheaper 7 element lens design. An estimated 500.000 versions of this lens were produced !!!
Totally amazing is how small the 135/3.5 is compared to modern fast autofocus lenses - day&night! - I guess takumar for day modern fast glass for night

I've been using two SMC lenses on my Canon DSLR's for close to two decades now. Absolutely great glass than can hold it's own with the Leica R and CY Zeiss lenses I also use.
The 50/1.4 is one of my most consistent producers of images with that "3D Pop" when I used to print a lot. The two images from it below are prime examples. In the one with the rail fence those leaves actually seem to come out of the paper on the printed image. The same with the Aspen tree trunks in the other shots.
I also have the 135/3.5 and it's an amazing lens in use. So much smaller and lighter than my other three 135 lenses.
