p.1 #1 · Canon R3 + RF 70-200mm L IS USM Z + RF 2x extender
I should have posted to this forum BEFORE ordering, but after much research and deliberation, I just purchased the Canon RF 2x extender (over the 1.4x) to pair with my new Canon RF 70-200 L IS USM Z lens. My primary use is for action sports photography (a 400mm lens is still on my future purchase list). Early reviews indicate the 2x extender works well with that lens with relatively minimal IQ or AF speed loss. Previously, I’ve used the EF 70-200mm L IS USM II with the EF 1.4x extender with good results. However, I’d read the EF 2x extender resulted in a significant IQ hit. The RF version reportedly improved upon this issue, albeit with the same two steps of f-stop loss.
I’ll have the opportunity to test this new combo while shooting my daughter’s rodeo event in two weeks. Meanwhile, anyone have hands on experience with this pairing?

Its funny, I have been in a similar boat as the OP regarding the using 70-200 Z lens with the Canon RF TCs. (I actually started a similar thread in the Canon forum.)
By all accounts, the 70-200 Z is so sharp and flat that when using a TC, it is nearly as good as the bare 100-500 at similar focal lengths and apertures. I don't have either one yet, but I plan to do the same for shooting sports with the R6mII. I've used the 100-500 before, but have been using the RF 100-400 for a little bit now. For what it is, the RF 100-400 is actually quite good, so based on what I understand about the 70-200 Z, I fully expect when its coupled with the Canon TCs to at least not be any worse than the RF 100-400, and in all likelihood should be sharper (while also being a stop faster at the longer end).

I too would love to hear some feedback on this. I recently got back into shooting and picked up an R5ii and the the 70-200Z. I’m looking to shoot high school soccer and am on the fence of getting the 2xtc.
