Had my Z8 for 18 months and never had that problem.
Agree. It's kind of funny because I am a former Sony A1 owner , and move to a Nikon Z8 for the 600pf. I used the Sony A1 for over 3.5 years. The AF system has its own issues and it is most certainly not superior to the Z8 (in some way better and some areas worse). I actually found the Z8 to lock onto a birds eye faster ,and more importantly the focus precision was better. In other words when the Z8 locked onto the eye, the actual focus was sharp on the eye! On the Sony, although it would aquire focus quickly the precision was lacking. I almost always noticed a slight front or back focus on a birds eye. All systems have their quirk's. If anyone thinks Sony is better than please sell your gear and go buy one!

You can easily roll the FW back if you have issues.
That’s what I wound up doing after I observed that the Tamron 150-500 did not work. It’s good to see that Nikon has that capability. Sony does not from my experience.
Please be informed that when the Nikon Z8 body is updated with firmware Ver.3.00, we have confirmed issue.
Some of Tamron mirrorless lenses will not operate properly.

I question the nature of a licensing relationship that does not require the licensor to timeously share major software changes with licensee(s) prior to releases. The licensee is majorly-disadvantaged by what has just happened, unless, they knowingly went for a cheaper licensing option that has them figure things out post-update release.
We'll never know because all these companies are so secretive.
There‘s a New fireware for Fringer EF-NZ adapter
1. Issue fixed: Nikon Z8 v3.0 firmware is not compatible
2. Issue fixed: AF does not work on Canon EF180/3.5L
Version 2.10 (46,984 bytes, 2025/7/2)
Anyone test out the godox/flashpoint flashes with the new firmware? Curious to know if anyone experienced any issues with the latest x3 trigger or 350 and v1 flashes.

Godox V1 via the X3 trigger works fine here on v3.0.
Are we sure that Tamron has a proper license agreement with Nikon? If yes then indeed they should be made aware in advance about the software changes. If not then they can only blame themselves.
For me this is a reason to stay away from Chinese non licensed lenses because they can stop working after every firmware upgrade.

That sounds a bit like they were blindsided. Which is not a good look for Nikon.

For any Tamron lens with a Z mount, given they are usually a few hundred dollars more expensive that their E mount counterparts, surely must have a licensing agreement in place and any bugs will be rectified promptly. For adapted lenses and non-licensed Z mount lenses, all bets are off.
