A wide-brimmed hat when photographing migratory geese.

If you know, you know.

Updating my own post, and just back from a few days photographing in the High Sierra, and more about the wonder of hats. (Some are cheap, but maybe you want a better one?)

1. They make fine tools for blocking the light (and controlling flare) when shooting directly into the sun.

2. With your camera on a tripod, waiting for just the right moment in rain or snow, you can put a large-brimmed hat atop the camera and protect it.

3. When working in low angle sun, especially if you like to shoot scenes with backlight, the brim of the hat makes it possible to block that light that would otherwise be directly in your eyes, allowing you to see camera controls and even your rear screen.

I could go on… ;-)

White gaffer tape is essential.

Each lens gets a small arrow to make mounting faster and foolproof, especially in poor light.

Each body cap also gets a piece of white tape to help find it in the dark.
I also draw an arrow on it to know its orientation, so there's no fiddling when switching bodies or lenses.

I don't understand why the insides of camera bags are still predominantly black, or dark. In the days of film you could make a shaky case for that, but not any more.

The white on white color scheme with Sony lenses baffles me. I use red paint pens so I can actually see the mount alignment dots.

Another one of my cheap thrills. I made them for all my workstations and I no longer have to worry about heat:

Two brands I really like: SmallRig for mounts/accessories and Op/Tech USA for straps. Both punch above their weight for quality/longevity at their price points.

Definitely love SmallRig/Mathorn double-battery USB-C chargers.
