The M11-D looks gorgeous. From my reading it won’t be available until next spring? I’m guessing they will be very hard to come by and mostly bought by collectors if only 100 copies are available.

I agree, it's a great set. But I do wonder what the price will be. Unless you have some kind of connection with Leica, I doubt most customers will even get the chance to buy one.

Theoretically the serial number range could go to 999...
If you were offered the choice, would you pick #001 or #100? I think the latter, for me. Might be a rare example where the last unit is the most desirable.
It looks great. I'd love to see one lovingly brassed from longterm use in 5-10 years, assuming the top/bottom plates are brass for this edition.

Most appealing to me from all of this is the book. Curious to see more what's inside the book in the near future!
The camera with lenses look good by their designs. If I could warm up for any M-D series camera I might be a bit more excited. But I never felt interested in the M-D based special M series cameras. My eyeball always rolls to the side looking at my film-based Leica M cameras, and I feel I am all set and in no need for a M-D .
Unfortunately time hasn't obviously come yet for Leica to announce the rumored M-V

I have a feeling none will get to Oz, but I have put in a price request for a set, if available.
As an aside, it looks like this is a gloss paint in the 100 kit. That'd be a different finish to the standard camera.

I just noticed that the M11-D in this set doesn't have strap lugs. The special edition "Leica 60" also lacked lugs, but if I remember correctly, it came with a half case that allowed for strap attachment.

According to Leica the set will come with some kind of case
...an exclusive protector with a permanently attached carrying strap, inspired by the earliest Leitz leather accessories
But I couldn't find an image or something that clarified what such a "protector" was
I see, so Leica essentially reinvented the Leica 60 with the Leica 100. Aesthetically, it reminds me of the M60, with a similar box layout and a unique screen-less body with no top engravings (and the ISO dial moved to the back on both cameras). It makes sense that they included a half case. The wording "protector with a permanently attached carrying strap" also echoes the M60 specs.

Anyone hear anything from Leica as to whether the Anastigmat will become the next lens in the Classic series? I had this lens on a Leica 0 and it was magical. I loved the rendering, which was quite different from my original nickel Elmar. I want one badly for my M. Now that these cameras are making their way to consumers, I’m really hopeful we’ll see a run for us normal folk.
As an aside, I’ll throw another vote in for a black paint over brass M11-D. I have the current -D and love it, although I really wish it was BP. I don’t like the way the (same) paint is wearing on my M6, and it will be even uglier with the -D as there’s only white aluminum underneath. The camera is excellent, though!!

Im right there with you, Fred. If there was a special version in glossy black paint for the 'D" variant, it would be very hard to resist.
I can't promise anything, but I think I would trade my M-D Black Paint for it. Don't tempt me, Leica!
