Shimoda x50 is too small for 600/4s tc. The large mirrorless/dslr core is 15.8 inch long but 600/4 without hood is 17.3 inch. You will need x70 with extra large dv core which will weight 4.2 kg combined and it is a bit longer than official airline carryon size allowance which may be a problem with some airlines. I love Shimoda as it is the most comfortable back pack that I have. Once I carry my gfx and Nikon gears , probably over 10 kg in gears alone all day long when I was in Japan and it was very comfortable. ...Show more →
DV Core unit is for X70 only. It won't fit in X50.
Shimoda site is a bit confusing as they mention only DSLR core unit for X50
"Core Unit Modular Camera Insert System – The X50 utilizes our DSLR Core Unit series. Core Units provide shockproof protection for Mirrorless and DSLR cameras and lenses, and ensure a user never carries more padding and weight than necessary. The X50 v2 can accommodate our Small, Medium, Large DSLR sizes. It can also accept our shallower Mirrorless series"

1) Do you think I can easily carry 10kg( 20 lbs) in Kashmir Air 2 ? Does it feel strong enough - I like the price and simplicity of the pack
2) Do you think Atlas Packs are worth this high price tag comparing to f-stop or even Shimoda ?
3) Nya-Evo 60C may be interesting option
Sorry for the late reply.
I don't think the Kashmir Air 2 bag will break on you with 10kg in it but I don't think it will be comfortable. I loaded mine with ~5kg and that felt about right for filling it up. I'm not even sure how you'd fit 10kg of stuff in there unless you have some older lenses that are considerably heavier than what I have in. FWIW, I stuck in my 300GM, 100-400GM, gripped A1II, both TCs, thermo scope, 4 spare batteries and a memory card pouch and that felt like it was enough.
The shoulder straps are fairly thin. I think for 10kg you'd be better looking at the Nya-Evo 60C or Shimoda both of which seem to have more substantial straps.
What is your gear list you want to fit in the bag?
I have both the NYA-EVO 60-C (not the gen 4) and Atlas Adventure. I think the Atlas has a bit more room for equipment compared to the NYA-EVO, but that's with the NYA-EVO large RCI. They do make an XL version, but you trade some general storage for equipment storage.
The Atlas belt is more substantial than the NYA-EVO and the pack is tapered a bit more, to conform to the shape of your back. I like both though, but I feel I can carry a bit more in the Atlas Adventure.
I ended up picking up a NYA-EVO 60-C 4th Gen With an XL RCI from Henry Hudson, great people to work with “quick email responses” Very knowledgeable and has tried lots of different backpacks. I looked at many review for both Atlas and NYO-EVO both look like great back packs. But for my needs I think this was the best route. Or I’m hoping so 😎 Thank You for everyone’s input and the time they took to help me out, it was greatly appreciated.

Good choice I guess. And maybe later you can comment about this backpack
Personally, for me NYA - EVO is strange Brand. They make new bag and there is zero info about it, not even one good video showcasing their bags, compare them and tell us why there is price incrase and why new bag is worth it
I wish more backpack companies are like Shimoda. They make a lot of informative videos showing why to buy specific bags and all new futures. This are $350-$500 Backpacks and almost no marketing for them ?
After using it on a few trips I’ll try to remember to post an update and give my thoughts. I’ll be flying to Oregon later this year so It’s supposed to be compliant to carry on plane. I think HH might do a video about this new pack! I don’t wanna speak for the man. We traded a few emails he’s just a busy man!!!

For my next trip want to carry
Body ------ Nikon Z7II. Nikon Z6
Lenses --- 14-28 2.8, 24-120 f4, 70-200 2.8, Nikon 180-600
7 Extra Batteries, 20 000 PowerBank, Filters, Ball Head and some extras
Normally I travel without 180 - 600 but is easily 10-11kg with small tripod ( counting ICU and backpack weight)
I own more camera bags and backpacks than I’d care to admit, including Mr Jan Gear Boris IV and the MindShift BackLight 36L. As far as I know, these are the only two backpacks that can fit a 600mm f/4 lens attached to a body (with the hood reversed) and still meet most airline carry-on size requirements.
On a recent trip to South Africa, I brought the MindShift 36L. It held three camera bodies (Sony A1, A1 II, and A7R V), three lenses (600mm f/4, 200-600mm, and Tamron 35-150mm), a 16" MacBook Pro, and various accessories (1.4x TC, extra batteries, etc.). Fully loaded, it weighed around 30 lbs but remained manageable for short walks, like navigating airports. It fit in the overhead bins on all flights except a small Airlink regional jet—where it slid under the seat in front of me (I just had to take out the laptop).
I watched a video review of the NYA-EVO Fjord 60C Gen 3 with the XL-RCI the guy loaded a 600mm f/4 T/C S with the hood reversed mounted to a Nikon Z8. I will take pictures with mine loaded.

Well I've taken it out on 3 outings. Longest Hike was about 5 miles 1 way. As you can see from the picture it was holding my 600mm f/4 / Z9 / 14-24mm f/2.8 / 24-70 f/2.8 all S Lens. Not seen was the batteries / Hoods / Filters / Cleaning Supplies / Memory Cards / Power Bank & Cables / snacks / wireless remote trigger those were situated on top of the pack above lens when upright. The Tripod sits in a pocket on the side and straps in snug on the top. Other side has room for a 33oz water bottle. If needed more could have been packed in the wet compartment on top when I just have rolled up and strapped down. Very comfortable very thick pads on shoulders and waste strap to most of the load is carried on the my hips. I work for an airline and still is airline compliant.

Just saw this show up on YT. Haven't watched it yet but first thing I've seen mentioning the new V4.
I also got mine from hudson. I’m very pleased with it. Planning a few hikes this weekend if the rain would hold off. It’s been raining here every day the last week plus every day for the next week.

Looks ok. I need to think much more. Maybe I will get one once I go to Europe
For now I don't see so much value $484
I have to pay Extra 16% charge for bring this bag to my home for Total * $561USD
Maybe Gen 5 will be not that heavy ( Carry on Bag should never weight 2.4 kg ( 5.30 lbs empty without ICU. This is the biggest issue I have with this bag )
I get it! I didn’t have a backpack yet and there are so many options. I don’t wanna be the guy that has 3-5 different packs so I opted to go this route. I also used those Grumblers to modify the XL-RCI for those smaller trips as well. Instead of buying another RCI.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a hiking back pack? The large items would include 600mm f/4 TC VR S / 24-70mm f/2.8 S / 14-24mm f/2.8 S / Qty 2 Z9s, filters, batteries. It must be able to side mount a gitzo tripod carbon fiber.
Also 1 for carrying on airplane. It only has to hold all 3 lens and 2 camera bodies. Thx
