What is the saying...from tiny acorns grow mighty oaks! ? Even festooned with the mosses, Jon!
You've been giving your IR camera quite a workout.

Reminds me of Maryland's State tree, the Wye Oak."The Wye Oak, Maryland's State Tree, was a massive white oak located in Wye Mills, Talbot County. It was the largest white oak in the United States and stood for over 460 years before falling during a thunderstorm on June 6, 2002. "
I have film print of it somewhere...
I love the moss of the South! It gives everything "character". Especially large homesteads and plantations.
Great capture jon. I agree with Douglas on the IR work!

Beautiful!! We're visiting the plantations near Charleston next year (Mar/Ap) and I'm looking forward to seeing these. Any recommendations?
Thanks Al!
The first one I would recommend is Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. That is where I do most of my photography.
The second is Middleton Place. It is about 2 or three miles down the road.
The third place is Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens. It is in Mt. Pleasant, SC, next door to Charleston.

Excellent!! Thank you!! I do have Boone and Magnolia on our list. I'll add Middleton...and another spot is Angel Oak....I love trees and this is special. Depending on where we stay we could be as little as two hours from Savannah, GA and am thinking we may take a drive to visit Bonaventure Cemetery. I'm sure you've been there??

I've lived here for over 20 years, but I've never been to that cemetery. I've often thought of going, but something else always came up! Maybe next time!
