Came across this film that looks like it was made in the ‘50’s. I wonder how many companies put this much effort into making lenses today.

Thanks for sharing this. Fascinating. In the mid-1950's I had an embarrassingly simple Brownie Hawkeye before moving on. I assumed the name was either marketing or aspirational. Turns out it was the name of the depicted factory. Impressive doc and nicely told story.

Very interesting! I was a summer intern in the Hawkeye building in the 60's. I was not in lens manufacturing but I did see a lot of the operations shown in this film.

BTW, I believe the building was named after the camera, not the other way around.
