A local legend. Especially for Maryland steamed crabs or Rockfish(striped bass).
Crabs were $25 a bushel when I lived in Baltimore, 1971-1979..Now $250 a bushel!!!! If you go the docks when the crabbers get in, you can get a bushel for $100-150.
The Chesapeake crabbers get roughly $75 at dock prices.

I'll take some rockfish...
The last one is pretty nice, balanced, with some nice colors, but the selective one doesn't grab me.
That is fine "MIch". I tend to do this on a whim just to see how members react. I like it but......
It was the 1st Day of Summer..so I went for some flash. This was about 9am looking West.
Thanks!

YUM YUM YUM...Love seafood...Especially crab.
Thanks Bill! I love seafood also and especially steamed crabs! But they have become so expensive that it is cheaper to buy caviar then steamed crabs!
Our Chesapeake Bay watermen are NOT the benefactors of the enormous price increases or I would gladly "bite the bullet".
If one has the driving initiative, you can go the Maryland's Eastern shore and buy direct from the watermen at 50% less a bushel
Thanks!

You are right there Douglas! Just like lobsters!
Thanks! Had to get up early so no cars parked in front of the mural. The shadows from the metal poles were very lengthy.

I really should visit the east cost of North America one day. Thanks for posting these photos.
Thanks for "stopping by" "bcg"!
The East coast can be very enjoyable if you take the roads less traveled. It is quite congested from NYC to Philly. Take the Delaware coast road acroos the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel into Virginia and south through the Carolina's.
Some beautiful shorelines and country.
Thanks again!

Steve
Thanks Steve! Yes May's is a local landmark for seafood. Steamed crabs have gotten too expensive for me! I will pay for a pair of great crab cakes over crabs any day! And I usually can only eat 1 of the 2 huge crab cakes. They are $200 less also! Ublimited salad, homemade bread and desserts. Plus no mess!!!!!
One of my clients, Fratelli's, makes thee best crabcakes in Maryland or any other place. Massive softball sized cakes with NO fillers! It got to be that chewing small pieces of crabshell was a part of the experience of eating a crabcake but Fratelli's you will NOT find such in their's.
Pasta is homemade right in front of you.
The mural is only a few years old. I got up early that morning to grab a shot before the lunch crowd came and blocked the mural.
We went from the 100F's to 65F yesterday! I got out very early in the morning and did some "street photography" while the streets were bare.
Stay safe out there "English"!

Dan - I can always count on your great photos and back stories to make my morning on FM. You are making me hungry. Been awhile since I hit the MD coast. Need a a salt air and seafood fix! Steve

..Many thanks Steve! I always try to provide some kind of context to my posts. It may help viewers to decide whether to "trash" the image or engage with it! . And the "stories" I tell are actually real life happenings! That could be good or bad right??
I have been "here" a long time so images being shot(as in basketball) into the "round file", aka "Delete button", is a common occurance!
I love murals and May's has a great one. Key is to get there before anyone parks in front of it!
Thanks again Steve!
Stay cool!
Dan
Thank you amigo! The 2nd one was my "taste" for selective color. Doesn't always work out to other photographers.
Appreciate you stopping by to comment!
