For years I’ve taken CalTrain up to the City very early in the morning to photograph sunrise and then wander along the Embarcadero and into other parts of the City, and this view always catches my eye.
It also reminds me that I haven’t done one of those SF days in a long time, and I need to again!
One can't go wrong in most locations in SF.... I find it to be very photo rich city.

Everything a well crafted image should be.
I’ve been meaning to get back up there for a couple of months now — I often take the train to the City and then walk past that spot early in the morning on days of street photography.

(I’m going to send you one other comment via PM.)

Thanks Dan, taking a train into the City is the best as parking in SF is problematic. Never gotten out in the morning, will do that next time I am visiting my son up there. Thanks for the PM and totally agree.

I'm glad you were OK with what I mentioned to you. You know... you could do that if you want. ;-)
For those of us in the greater Bay Area, the train (or the ferry) is a great way to get to the City to do photography in the central urban area. Of course, since I like to arrive around sunrise that means a pretty darned early wake-up call in order to get to the train station, complete the journey, and arrive in time. But once I'm there, I can walk almost anyplace I want to go, and that's the best way to photograph this city, I think.
