I suppose some of us are lucky with our shooting styles. I keep it at 12fps for birding with no issues. Never saw the light of any buffer ever. Nor will I. I use the fastest Anglebird CF card as well so never an issue. I shoot exclusively full RAW not Craw. To each their own.

This is true. I shoot exclusively cRAW and usually @ 30fps.
The R5II is an amazing all-rounder and I'll be using mine for many years to come as I did with my R5's. Now that there's very minimal rolling shutter and Clog 2 I'm not sure what would nudge me to upgrade to an R5III. I really can't say I want more right now other than getting the M-Fn button back to switch from photo to video like the R5 does. The R5II video/photo switch on the left side sucks and is a step back for hybrid shooters.
I'm also very happy with my lens collection after adding the new VCM primes, so I'm pretty much all set other than wanting an RF 400 2.8 w/TC and a 135 f/2 VCM. I would buy an RF 85 f/1.4 VCM if they could fit it in the same shell, but if not it's going to take a lot to fill the shoes of my Samyang RF 85 f/1.4
I can't really ever remember a time of being completely content with my camera and lens kit but that day has come and it's a good time to be a photographer.
I love my R5II. Coming from 5DIII, 7DII, R5 then this. I shoot sports, actions, birds and the R5II fast reading eliminate almost totally rolling shutter problem I encountered with the R5. I say almost because it's not 100% yet but it's way better than the R5.
It's a perfect camera except one small weakness: low light. Well, it's a 45 MPx so you can't compare with a 24 MPx.
If AF work, then no need to update firmware. I am still on 1.0.2 firmware and I am quite happy with the AF.
Congratulations on your camera and happy shooting!!
I don't believe it, I just picked up an R5 II at a pawn shop. A USA model. Also ordered a Canon adaptor from e-bay for 115 dollars, Ordered a 3rd party battery from China that is supposed to work perfectly on the R5II, we will see (43 bucks).
Canceled all my orders for new gear. I decided to stick to my guns. NEVER ever buy another piece of new gear from Canon.

I rarely ever touch the video/photo switch. I just press the video start button and the R5 II automatically switches to my preferred video settings, just like the R5 Classic did.

And unfortunately if you use several different video settings it doesn't work....so you have to flip the switch. The R5 was so much better in this way and Canon should allow us to override the switch with M-Fn.

Flip a switch versus push one button - truly a first-world problem.
If Canon really wanted to make the camera video-friendly, they would get rid of the idiotic selfie-screen design so you could tilt the EVF for video use.

Yes, it is a problem using your left hand while holding a big white. No issue on the R5 whatsoever. If you were a hybrid shooter and used different video settings you would understand. Canon went backwards and added a switch on the left side of a camera. If it was on the right side and accessible with right hand it wouldn't be as much of a step backwards.
Good thing for me I'm a 99% photo shooter. The clips of video I have taken were a mere switch over to Video and hit the Red button and hit it again to stop. Can't get easier than that for what I use it for.

Fortunately for me, I never find myself wanting to scroll through video menus while hand-holding a big telephoto.
For grabbing quick clips it's just a press of the video button, otherwise the camera is mounted on a tripod with my Ninja V+ attached.
My camera is often hanging from a handle or lens foot with left hand, or I'm looking through the EVF while supporting the lens with my left hand on zoom ring or focus ring. On R5 I could shoot stills, switch to video and shoot 4K 24 clip, then shoot a 4k60 or 4k120 or 8k clip, and then switch back to stills all without lifting my right hand off the controls/trigger, removing camera from eye, or removing left hand from lens. Now with R5II you can't do this as you need to either drop lens with left hand to hit the switch, or support lens with left hand and reach over with your right hand to flick the switch. And then, you have to do it again when switching back to photo mode. It's very annoying coming from years of shooting like this with the R5 and you can miss some critical action as a result.

That red button is great for switching to one of your video modes, but they removed the ability to switch to full video mode with a press of a button from your right hand.

I would be very leary about buying anything that expensive from a pawn shop...it is possible it was stolen. Hopefully in your case it wasn't.

That's what I'm thinking as well. Either that or it took a swim in saltwater or something especially considering it was only $43 USD.

$43 was for the 3rd-party battery...I am curious what the camera did sell for.

Once again means NOTHING to me. I have that red button set up to switch between People, Animals and NONE. LOVE it for that. Fits my shooting needs and style perfectly

Yeah, I wouldn't expect it to mean anything to people who don't use the affected features.

2650, Said it was brand new never used. After testing it I agree. Also a USA version not grey market. Have been testing it for the last few days. Looks absoutly perfect so far. Also I have bought a 500/4, 300 2.8, 7DII from e-bay and all have been absolutely perfect. Picked up a brand new 400 DOII when it first came out for 5000 dollars in Malaysia years ago. Just as a side note. I got a 30 day return time for the camera if I find something wrong. Pristine.
Bought a 512 Gb memory card from e-bay 149. And card reader for 23 dollars.
Read an article about the Canon R5 II battery from Canon, I will have to see if the one from China will work properly. I have not gotten it yet. The reviews say it works flawlessly. Yet to be determined.
Now my kit is a 500/4 II I traded for with my 500/4 in Thailand. It was a hot lens (as in everyone wanted it in Asia) and I got 2500 more than I paid for it on e-bay. A 400 DOII from Malaysia NEW. The Ringett tanked and I ordered it the day after that and saved a ton of cash. 7DII and 18-135 on e-bay for 800 dollars. Now my new R5II pawn shop, Adapter for my lenses e-bay, I thought it was used but turned out to be new. I may be living on borrowed time but so far I have never had one problem.
My birding kit. I decided years ago buying new was a huge mistake. About like buying a new car. Just throwing your money away. Even if you have it to burn a foolish move IMO. But, I am a birder not a gear-head. My hobby is travel. But, when I can I enjoy photographing the birds sometimes.
Dought it will happen, but I told the gal at the pawn shop to keep an eye out for a Canon R1. I am curious.
So one of you rich guys please pawn your new R1... hahaha
Note: The camera was still on firmware 1.0.1, one of the reasons I bought it. Looks like Canon is starting to cripple the camera in firmware updates.
