As the title says
We are off to Prague for 5 days next month
Partner and son completely disinterested in picture taking. So I need to travel light
I body I lens that’s it!! Plus my phone
Suggestions please?
Thought about a compact ..TZ70 or S95
Maybe 6D 24-85usm
R100 rf24-105
M50 22mm or 18-150
I think it’s going to be hardwork combining family and photo opportunities
So the easiest set up is crucial
I know the 6D like the back of my hand the old ef24-85usm is the lightest most versatile standard zoom I have. Will be shooting at f8 hopefully, the iPhone will cover evening shots at a push 😬
If it were me with these restrictions, I’d take my Sony RX1. This is a tiny full frame compact with a 35mm f/2 lens, a leaf shutter and a built in flash. From your list, the M50 + 22mm would be closest.
Prague is known for its architecture so perhaps there would be time for you to do some architectural photography while Mrs. Puffin and the puffinlet gawp at the buildings. But given Prague’s reputation for being so busy in the high season, consider whether you’d want the hassle of gear for that even if you were travelling alone. (I haven’t been there myself.)

Thanks for the reply
We went to Prague around 20yrs ago before son arrived, we went out of season .. I remember it being absolutely freezing…just so cold!! ….and deserted.
So I think I’m in for a shock with regards to fellow tourists.
I don’t know what they are called??, but I remember being awestruck by the huge statues that are depicted holding up the buildings 😳 I was mesmerised….oh and the narrow cobbled streets.
Has anyone here been?
Will a 24-85 cover general touristy snaps?
In my minds eye I’m just strolling around with a camera on a long strap across body swinging on my hip. I do love primes but the restrictions may be too limiting
My initial choice was a Pentax K3 with Pentax 18-135wr - the entire combo is fully water resistant plus has pop up flash that could be used as a fill in
As I say I body 1 lens is my main criteria
I was in Prague last year for several days and utilized a Leica Q3 which was perfect for architecture, general scenery-scenic vistas, landscapes, and interiors of buildings. I also did a half-day one-on-one tour with a local photographer to gain some unique perspectives of the city. There are many photo opportunities readily available throughout the city The 24-85 will be perfect and there is no need to be burdened with other gear. The latest iPhone models will be also be a welcome addition. My wife utilized her iPhone and obtained wonderful photos.
Enjoy your travels.
Go with what you know best. 6D 24-85. Thinking of it from a different perspective the last thing you want is to fiddle with the gear when you have that spur of the moment opportunity for a shot.
As you say combining family with photo opportunities you know the 6D and 24-845 like the back of your hand thus the opportunity occurs and no pausing and thinking of your gear it is essentially react, point and shoot.
Just went on a weeklong vacation to Acadia with my wife in which I took only my R5II and 35 VCM (plus my iPhone). I've been an advocate for one-body-one-lens travel for a long time, though this is the first time I've ever done it with a full sized, professional grade body -- previously, it had been either my X100V or one of my Nikon FM era film cameras. My advice would be to think hard about whether or not you actually need/want a zoom, because the creative limitations of only having one focal length are, to me, such a huge mental relief during a time when the priorities are ostensibly fun and relaxation. You don't need to worry about getting both wides and tights of any buildings or scenes, comparing minute differences in framing after the fact, etc. You can just say, okay, what can I do here with this 24/50/whatever mm lens?
I'd also definitely consider the size and weight of the kit. I got some of my favorite pictures ever with the R5II on this trip, but it was definitely not as fun to squeeze it into my bag for hikes, sailing, dinner, and the like. From the options you list, I would say M50 & 22mm plus iPhone will bring the most joy (and also probably the best pictures, given how good that 22 is). Tuck it into your bag or coat pocket and go have fun with your family.
If you can get out of the city, a trip to the Moravian Forest area is interesting. Machoca is a huge sink hole that's hundreds of feet deep that is worth seeing too. It's in a park area, so stairways picnic tables, etc exist there.
I once worked for Adast, a large printing press and auto service station equipment manufacturer located in Adamov, but my job was USA based. My weekends while over there was spent touring the area.
It's been a while since I have been to Prague. My recollection is largely wide angle photography. M50 with EFM11-22 might be a consideration, since you seem to own all M lenses. Highly compact.

I did think of using the M stuff
But if I’m honest I just love the rendering of the 6D sensor (and 5diii too) I’m actually way more familiar with the 5diii, but it’s a heavy beast to carry round for 5 days.
We have not been to Prague, but it is on our list... and may be on our next trip across the pond.
So I 'won't say much about Prague. However, I hear you about trying to combine photography with family trips. Fortunately for me, my wife is also a photographer so I get a little more leeway. But sometimes we travel with non-photographers and it is a problem.
I often can photograph quickly in some urban environments, taking more of a street photography approach. So I tell the others to just move on without me and I'll catch up.
I think the gear you take is partly determined by what and how you will photograph. The 6D with that zoom would certainly be versatile and, as you point out, its operation is intuitive for you. Personally, I prefer to not carry anything that big any more, but that's a personal decision.
The R100 isn't a bad option, but I wonder about combining it with the 24-105. On APS-C that doesn't give you much at the wide end.
