I am learning to use the pre-set focus feature to make my cameras (A1 and A1II) to quickly focus on subjects close to MFD, I can program the "focus hold" button on my 600 GM and 300 GM, but when I tried to program the 400-800's "focus hold" button for "focus pre-set", the camera said something like " the lens is not mounted correctly or this feature is not supported in this lens".
I recall reading something about this in the past but couldn't find it. I googled "which Sony lenses support focus pre-set", couldn't find the answer either. Right now I have to assume the 400-800's focus hold button cannot be programmed to "pre-set focus"??

The 400-800 does have Focus Hold.
It does not have Preset Focus. (Edited - removed mistake, as pointed out by Arbitrage)
Neither does 300 GM,unless using A9III. It only has Focus Hold with A1 / A1II

400-800 doesn’t have focus preset even with A93 and A1/A2 which support it via menus. The 100-400 and 200-600 don’t have it either.

Also corrected the "It only has Focus Hold with A1 / A1II" to "It only has Preset Focus with A1 / A1II".
Hey, at least I got the compatibility list correct.
300GM has preset focus with A1 on later FW and with A1II (and A9III). Just no lens button like the 400/600 but the bodies that have that feature support the 300GM. I was using it back on the A1 and use it all the time with my A1II.
