In the unlikely event that this goes significantly down in price in the US used market, yes. My only gripe with it is the low spec viewfinder, but otherwise I think this would be a fantastic, almost pocketable camera.

I won’t be buying one for my own use, as the XE concept isn’t ideal for how I use these cameras. (Plus, I have the XT5…)
More significantly, I’m far less likely to recommend it to others at this point given the doubling of the price compared to its immediate predecessor. If someone asked me if they should get it today, I’d counsel them toward the XT5 if they were set on Fujifilm.

I put a preorder in. I had been seriously looking at the X100VI but knowing myself, I would probably wind up purchasing the wide angle adapter. Since I already have the 18mm/2 and the 8mm/3.5 and could borrow my wife’s 30mm Macro, the X-E5 made sense to me as an every day alternative to my X-T5 with the red badge zooms. The X-E5 can also be a backup to the X-T5 when we travel.
I’ve pre-ordered one to replace my XE-4. I don’t agree with all these complaining naysayers at all. The high price in the US is logical considering the tariffs. Fuji cameras that are in short supply generally also retain their value. Yes, the EVF could be better, but it doesn’t bother me that it isn’t.

It looks like a really nice camera but I'm waiting to see what the X-T6 and the X-H3(S) look like. Ideally I'd stay with the T line but we'll see how things role out.
No. Apart from the price tag, I have two X-E3s which deliver fine results. And if both fail, I probably try to get replacements. (1) No need for 40MP (2) No need for IBIS (3) its bigger than previous X-E models (4) it has a film sim dial, but no back control dial (5) EVF not improved.
For someone who wants to start fresh in the X-E system, its probably a good, though expensive, camera.
Preordered one and will likely sell my x100vi if I like it.. which I think it will. Might sell the 23mm for the 27mm pancake and the 50mm f/2 for a small edc kit.
Why am I not pre-ordering?
1. I will NOT pay the tariffs
2. I will wait for it to become available on the B&S
3. Delayed gratification is a good thing to practice. For now I can make do with my lowly GFX gear.
I’m considering buying one when available on local stores. I’m currently selling some m43 gear to fund it.
Here in Europe the price is reasonable (same as the X-T50) considering the upgrade not only on specs but controls and construction quality (from what I’ve seen online). And I do prefer the rangefinder style bodies.
Of course I could get a used X-T5 or another higher-spec camera for the same price (or even cheaper). But for me this isn’t about the specs, it’s about the shooting experience and the X-E5 does add some new stuff that I know I’ll enjoy. Being the main thing the lever on the front to choose various crops and aspect ratios on the fly.
I’m liking the direction Fujifilm seems to be taking lately, focusing on the experience of using a camera and trying new stuff instead of just upgrading specs.
I put in a pre-order with the 23mm lens for my daughter’s 21st birthday, but I gave her a ten year old Sony A7Rii to temporarily use, which has about the same resolution, EVF, LCD and size. All this plus it has a full frame sensor. Is this 10 year old camera a better camera? Well..not for video, but that isn’t what it is for. I might just give her the old camera and a compact lens then give her money for her desired trip to Korea, or Japan.
