p.1 #1 · Sky Pond sunrise, bonus moonset and Taylor glacier
Yesterday got up at 0030 and was boots on trail by 0157. Objective was sunrise at Sky Pond.
Moonset at the Loch. Was unplanned, but thankfully I had enough padding in my timeline that I could stop for a few shots.
I've done two sunrises at Sky Pond at different angles in the past but was never super happy with how they came out. I'm more pleased with this one, though it was a real pain getting up to this vantage point in the dark. The light skipped the orange phase, presumably a cloud blocked the sun at that height to the east, so I just got red and golden.
The forecast had rain on it around noon, so I had planned to hang out until then and hope that some low clouds would come in for drama. Since I was already up on the slope, I decided to keep on creeping closer and closer to Taylor glacier to try and get a closer shot of it, up until I ended up at its base.
