I shot this image back in 2011 and really didn't know what to do with it. I added a top and bottom linear gradients adjusted highlights and shadows and leveled, Slight sharpen and removed a few sensor spots. Looking for a few comments / suggestions. Thanks for looking.

I think its well-processed and of course intensely and beautifully colorful. Love the DOF.
Not sure if this is what you are reacting too, but the comp doesn't seem ideal. There are two strong pulls in the image: 1 along that furrow on the right leading to the mountain. And a second across the field to the farm buildings in the distance. They seem to compete. Not sure what alternatives you had.
I gave it a couple of color tweaks and brought the blown red channel down. This gave the photo a sharper background. It is easy to blow the red channel, so bringing it down makes a deeper richer red. Personally I want reds to be deep and rich for printing.
Well knowing what I know today I would have opted for a lower f/stop probably f8 as I think that’s the sweet spot for that lens. I would have also did focus stacking. Which I never considered back then! I’ve learned allot since then and am still like a sponge today! No noise reduction done but it was windy that day so I wanted to freeze them. That’s why I ask for feedback as I know I made allot of mistakes back then and trying to learn from those mistakes even if it makes me look like a nub! Lol

Thanks Scott if I remember right I started with them in the lower left hand corner to lead one’s view in and out of the photo. But like you said those buildings I wish were not there but that’s where I started. I shot several different perspectives straight on as well. This one just kind of grabbed me when I was going through my photos. I wonder if adding a little blur so they would not be so obvious? Thanks for your input much appreciated!

Thank You I can see the difference. I was fighting clipping in the highlights and shadows. Not the best taken picture for sure. If I would have only used the histogram when taking it 😢. I will play around with some different cropping options as well. I like your crop better! It doesn’t show that big dirt path! Yours is more appealing to me! Thank You!

Yes, I replaced the sky. I also got rid of some distractions like the buildings on the left, retouched the colors and added some green to the BG trees.
Just tried to make easier to the eye (using some artistic liberty) an already appealing photo. Is a beautiful, pleasing image, where I see colors being the main subject. The idea was to emphasize that aspect using some degree of variation or deviation from the original , trying to add a more peaceful, serene mood to the scene. I hope you didn't mind.
Lovely colours. However the strong diagonal lines from left to right lead my eye to the top corner of the image and there is nothing to bring it back. I prefer the crop that someone else posted above
Your right and Yes I took their advice and reworked the picture with much more pleasing results.

This is my latest attempt and took some of the advice people suggested and I think looks allot better. I still need to learn more about using LRC/PS but I'm learning.... Thanks to the good people here!!!!!.... I made this 1800 pixels on the long side. Gonna have to play with different sizes. Don't want them to big or to small lol...

I think the sky is too dramatic in your latest version. The shot is about the tulips not the sky. I prefer the calm blue sky of the original image you posted.
Just because we can do something, doesn't mean we should.
I can see your POV. I’m new to LRC and not much better at PS. So I’m trying out different things / techniques to just learn how to do them. Sometimes it’s nice to get other’s perspectives as it will help with future pictures. There are lots of talented people on this site and if I can learn a few things then I’m just a little better off. My dad use to say you can learn something from anyone if you give them a chance. Anyway thank you for commenting and your right in allot of ways.

Just to be clear, I am not against replacing the sky, I just don’t like the idea of using one that competes with the flowers. I think before replacing something in an image we need to think about what and why we took the photo. With the dramatic sky you are telling two stories, one about the sky, and one about the flowers, in my opinion I think it needs to be totally about one or the other.
