I recently sold my original 1DX and bought a mint condition body 1DX mark ii with 187,000 clicks on the shutter (this camera came from a CPS member and the camera had been cleaned and serviced by Canon in November and not used since). It came with the premium kit box, I know thats not a big deal but I do like having all of the original booklets and packing. No more that a week later another 1DX mark ii feel into my lap with 62,000 clicks on the shutter. This one is in great shape with only few blemishes on the body. However this one is not a complete kit with box and papers and not owned by a CPS member. It did come with 2 batteries, 2 CF cards and 2 Cfast cards and a Canon EF 50mm 1.2. Which one would yall keep? I know these cameras will last forever if treated well. I am a Gold CPS member. Should I just send in the 62,000 shutter camera for a check up?
My other camera at the moment Canon R6 Mark ii and Canon Elan 7E, so I really don't need 2 1DX mark ii's.
I'd keep the premium 1DX II kit. I'd also keep the EF 50/1.2L and one of the batteries (maybe some of the cards), from the 62k camera. Then, I'd sell the 62k camera. If you get a CPS checkup/CLA for the 62k camera, it'll be a bonus for when you sell it.
Keep in mind the Canon EOS 1D X Mark II has an estimated CPS end-of-service date in July 2026. I just sold mine, which had a shutter count of about 2,000 when I bought it off KEH last July. I sold it to MPB to fund a new lens for my new R3. It still looked like new (not a scratch) with maybe 10-12k clicks.
It’s an amazingly well built camera and I already semi-regret not holding on to it for a back up.
