I'd... have to agree lol. I've tried all of Topaz Labs' offerings and Photo AI is easily the worthless one of the bunch. Gigapixel AI and Video AI are actually pretty useful and with some tweaking, they can produce legit results.
Photo AI, on the other hand, is barely functional. Like in the video, I also tried to correct some photos that had varying degrees of blurriness, from missed focus to minor camera shake and regardless of the combination of settings I used, it couldn't produce an acceptable result. The sharpening and noise reduction features weren't noticeably better than what Lightroom could produce, so the whole app itself seems pointless. Didn't even bother testing the upscaling since it has less settings than what Gigapixel provides and predictably produces an inferior result.
I would say that filtering through the hyperbole and animus for the product, his observations are on the mark. Topaz has gone off the rails with no hope for recovery. Spend the $ on LR/PS and maybe DxO prime.
It's not useless for everything but too heavy on the AI to make decisions and settings that would better be done with conventional control options. I was really hoping that they improve the Denoise only for my older TIFF files.
The best thing about is that it is not an Adode product.
