I now regret selling my X100VI, for which I paid $1400 (EDU price). I wonder what the new price of X100VI will be at the next price increase by Fuji in 10 days. Fuji must he excited to see this price on GRIV.
I will continue to enjoy GRIII & GRIIIx for several more years.

I wonder if the new GF-2 flash will work seamlessly with the GRIII.
YES!
Here is what Ricoh say:
* When mounted on a RICOH GR-series model other than the GR IV, the GF-2 only operates in the full-discharge mode, because the alignment of flash contacts (except for the X-sync contact) differs from that of the GR IV.
This firmware designed to allow a GR-III-series camera to automatically adjust the discharge level according to its focusing status is currently under development. The firmware is scheduled to be released in October 2025.

At $1500 it's a hard pass and that's too bad. Really like these cameras.
The main thing that will make people pause is the price. It jumped from $899 to $1,500, which is about a 67% increase...though honestly, it feels like everything has gone up about 67% these days.
For GR III owners, the updates aren't really game-changing, so that kind of hike makes it even harder to justify. Maybe the upside is that Ricoh will finally be able to keep it in stock.
Pre-ordered at B&H. Yes, the price is higher than I wanted but there is nothing out there that is truly pocketable with this level of quality output - upto ISO 800 I am having to pixel peep the output from GRiiix vs Q343 (after sizing to match GRiiix's max image size) to find meaningful difference, MTF curves and FF vs APS-C bokeh etc. not withstanding.
Everything else feels so big after handling the GR series.
Love the GR... from a distance at $1500. Wish I hadn't sold a GR III for $600 after a trip a few years ago.
Wonder if Ricoh and Fuji were selling new stock in the secondary market the last few years. Unethical, probably illegal, but they'd have made a lot of money.
A positive on all these new high prices on gear is that it cures GAS real fast! This was going to be an instant order for me until I just saw the price! I will gladly keep my GR3 lol

Same here with the GR IV and X-E5. Both are a pass for me since their biggest appeal was the combo of affordable price and compact size. Now it's just size, and I already own small cameras.
Honestly, I see it as a positive. It's a good reminder to enjoy shooting with the gear I already have and focus more on photography than chasing new gear.
My biggest issue with the GR IIIx was a screen that didn't get bright enough to use in bright sunlight. That caused me to sell the IIIx. Yea an optical finder could have helped but would have taken away from its small size. That doesn't seem to be improved in the IV, at least no one has talked about a better screen.
Based on the specs, the screen is the same. Agree that it could have been better / brighter.

Thanks for sharing. It seems most "influencers" don't go through the effort of showing how good the GR RAW files are and instead just focus on various filters and effects for jpg output.
On the GR1 the JPEGS seemed better, especially with the Positive Film sim. For some reason I'd blow highlights out on the GR3 a lot. I tried combating that by shooting highlight metering, but the JPEGS didn't recover shadows great. So I started shooting RAW with it and was really surprised with how good they are.

So the big day is here. $1500? Hey, they’re selling the iii faster than they can make them. It’s called pricing power. I’m still in a wait and see mode. Love my GR iii. Battery life doesn’t bother me—I have seven batteries. I would have been happier if the iv used the same small batteries. But the main thing I want to know is this: can iii recipes go directly into the iv without any translation or tweaking. I’ve spent the past year testing and refining dozens of jpg simulations and have developed some of my own. (My favorite: Konica Impressa 50.) It’s been hours and hours of fun but I don’t want to start over. It’s a wait and see for me.
I've had a GR then a GR iii since 2014. The main issue is dust, including those onto the sensor and those into button gaps. My GR-1 did sensor cleaning twice and became completely unusable after the lens was stuck. GR-3 had 2 dust spots, and I sold it at $700 recently.
I'll skip GR IV (especially at $1500) and see how GR-IV-X (next year?) solves the durability and dust issues. Just got a ZF to play so I'm not in a hurry~
