Ricoh are unlikely to admit any dust issues on prior models, but anti-static sensor cover and reworked lens mechanism would seem suggest redress.
I’ve bought every GRD 1 …IV and GR I , III ( skipping the GR II which was the most disappointing model turn to date ). I doubt I will be able to resist the GR IV. But still dreaming of a pure monochrome version.

Certainly the anti-static sensor cover. The updated lens/ mechanism is likely more about improved speed (start-up and AF) and possibly vignetting. I just hope this updated lens maintains the current GRIII's other optical qualities (sharpness of course but also the bokeh rendering with close subjects and fall-off characteristics). I find the current lens quite remarkable and usually prefer to the leave the natural optical vignetting intact.

Sorry if this is common knowledge, but is the 40mm "x" version expected to be released at the same time, or would that be later down the road?
The 40mm “x” version won’t be released at the same time.
That's the right link. It looks like B&H Photo might be updating the page or waiting for the official timing. At the moment, it seems to be available for pre-order only in Canada.
What we do know for sure:
The battery is the Rechargeable Battery DB-120 (not the DB-110 used in the GR III).

It is live on BH right now...the price is nuts at first glance though, $1500usd which is the same as I paid for the x100vi. I do love my GR, though.
Yes, it just went live at B&H.
$1,500 for this camera. Hard to believe, since the GR series used to be the affordable option…

I was thinking (or maybe just hoping) the GRiv would be around $1200-1250.
$1500 is going to be a tough pill to swallow, but I have been mountain biking with my GRiii for 7-8 years now and it has always been good to me so I imagine I will get the iv if/when something happens to my iii.

I paid $966.95 for a new GRIII at the beginning of May! In light of this, the price does seem out of wack.
I suppose there are at least two major contributors to this major price increase - six years since the last new release and, of course the U.S. Tariffs (worth likely half the price increase).
