p.6 #2 · SIRUI AURORA 85mm F1.4 lens THOUGHTS/Lens Test
Got mine for the L mount and the first imperssion was not good, so I made a quick test to be sure. The lens is horrible at all apertures. Checked the sirui aginst the contax zeiss 85mm 2.8 (both at 2.8 on Lumix S5II manual focus on tripod and with timer) its night and day. A bad copy ?

If comparing your copy of the Sirui to the C/Y Zeiss 85/2.8 is like night and day I also guess you can't get images at the level showed in this thread and also not like seen at other places. The conclusion can only be that your copy is no good.
When my first copy turned out to be a bad performer I mailed Sirui EU (Berlin). The exchange process was quick and easy.

Still liking the Sirui, Jonas? I keep seeing anything from rave reviews about character, creamy bokeh, and pop to views like lack of sharpness wide open, poor AF, etc.

Hej!
Yes, I still like it and I'm not planning to exchange it. Size, price, performance - all good for my use which is the casual portrait every now and then.
I don't care much about all the different reviewers. When I learned about the lens and saw early samples I decided to try it out myself. The first experience was not good. There was obviously some elemnt in the lens not correctly in place and sometimes that made for not so exciting images... I contacted Sirui Europe (in Berlin) and had the lens exchanged.
I have posted images taken with that lens earlier in this thread (you have probably seen them...). They are not perfect. They are, with some margin good enough.
