I was thinking I’d get the 24-70 f4 because it’s smaller and cheaper, but this thread has really made the 24-120 look attractive. I’ll have to test them both.

I started out with the 24-70mm f/4 and used that for several months. It’s a great lens and I have some awesome photos to prove it! I did like the appeal of the longer reach on the 24-120mm f/4 and ended up replacing the 24-70mm. I would have to say that the 24-120mm is my most used lens. The difference in size and weight is not a big deal given the advantages of the 24-120mm. The overall IQ of the 24-120mm f/4 is better and the extra reach is very handy!

I prefer using primes and often say meh to my 24-120, until I decide to use it. It never fails to make me prove myself wrong. It’s an excellent lens that produces really nice photos. The reach is great. It’s not a Heavy lens. Never owned the 24-70 but I can see that fitting the zf better weight wise.

All right, all right, just ordered one. Even though it seems like a bargain my wallet is still mad at y’all for steering me away from the $400 lens lol. Coming from Fuji and starting with a Z5II + 40/2 + 24-120/4.

I think you are going to be very happy with that setup! The 24-120mm is one of my favorite lenses. That 50mm extra on the long end is very convenient, and the lens has great IQ. When I started building out my Z setup I taught it was just a matter of time until I added a Z 24-70 f2.8 to my kit, as it was one of my goto DSLR lenses. 2+ years latter and I still have not added a 24-70 f2.8 since I just can’t see my self using it enough over the 24-120mm, currently I just add a prime or 2 to my bag when needed for low light photography. In a way you can think of the extra 400 as a savings vs having to buy another lens to cover the 70-120mm range.

That’s a good combination. It’s what I have with me this past couple days except with Z8
