The other one I posted was shot through some thin clouds that I couldn’t see when I took the picture. Last night was super clear so HERE is the moon shot through this awesome lens.

I was at the airshow on Friday and Saturday. One of the highlights was the F-16 Viper Demo still in the 50th anniversary paint scheme from last year. I didn't get to see it last year, glad they are keeping it for one more year. This is the paint scheme when F-16 was unveiled 50 years ago.
Yeah, the anniversary paint scheme looks really cool! I have a bunch of pics still unedited, but I’ve busy with my taxes. Maybe I’ll post some more when I get a chance.
Your shots look good at 800mm! So what’s the verdict? Will this replace your 600mm/1.4x for airshows?

My verdict is the 400-800 is a better lens (with 800mm reach) for airshows for ME. My former setups were A1+200-600mm, and A1+600mm f4+1.4X TC. In the future, the 400-800 will be my one lens solution for most airshows. 400mm is a bit too long occasionally for some formation shots if they come close. But I prefer the 400-800mm's 800mm over the 200-600mm's 200mm. For the sunset/evening show on Saturday, I used the 300 GM+2XTC, very light and sharp. I haven't used the 600 f4 for a long time.

Dang! You used to carry the 600GM and the 200-600? This will definitely lighten the load!
I’ve actually been pretty impressed with the sharpness of the 400-800 throughout the range. Not just 800mm. But shots at 400mm have very good detail. Haven’t done a side by side comparison. But I think it may be slightly better than my 200-600
Probably an unfair comparison, but how do you think the 400-800mm holds up against the 600GM/1.4x?
I still feel like I will bring my 100-400 for formations. Prop planes are also so much easier with a lighter lens
What’s that pair of F-18’s in the last pic? Don’t think I’ve seen a pair demo before. Usually just a single super hornet or something

If I know I willl need wider than 400mm, I will bring either the 100-400 GM or the 70-200 f4 G II. I will sell the A7RV as soon as I get the A1II. The EVF blackout of the A7RV bugged the heck out of me. The pair in the last shot are the EA-18 Grawler, the carrier electronic warfare jets.

Did the Growlers do a routine together? I’ve only seen them do solo demos

Sixth times the charm? I've encountered this Couse deer buck on five other occasions and he never looks my direction, just folds his ears back and walks the opposite direction I'm in. Today I was finally able to capture a decent image of him. He's a big buck for Couse deer standards. Do I wish he had more separation from the mesquite trees, yes, would it have been nice to be fully lit and not backlit, yes. That being said, this felt like a "win" in my book. He was with three other does when I captured the shot, I'm not sure he's in rut but he was chasing after them...

Great set Douglas!
Nice work on the crossing shots! I don’t know what was wrong with me this year. But it seemed like I always picked the wrong plane to track on my crossing shots. So I ended up with a bunch with the plane in back in focus 😄
